I am having the transaxel of my L type rebuilt. 00474 I had been concerned about the syncros and the possibility of doing serious damage. My mechanic found that the system had been entered before - likely synchros replaced. His hunch is that after a previous rebuild, a synthetic lube was used immediately not allowing break-in.
