Would anyone be interested in joining in a drive through "The Hamptons"? I couldn't make the fall folliage run, and thought about organizing an east end event. Maybe mid November?

might be a bit of a drive but well worth it. We went to the Fall Foliage run and it was great and the drive wasnt bad i imagine its better when your in a Ferrari/Porsche/Lamborghini. We were film crew in a Ford Excursion

Only 2 east-west roads on the north fork. Sound Ave starts in Wading River then turns into North Rd. at Greenport which eventually ends at Orient point. Nice ride through the farm lands. The other road is Rt 25. Rt 25 starts on the western end of LI and merges back into North Rd. also at Greenport. Rt 25 travels trough the small towns along 25. Both roads go through numerous wineries. Travel time on Sound Ave. from Wading River to Orient point is about 1 hour non-stop. Some good restaurants along the way especially in Greenport which is an old whaling town.

    Hamptons Rally details so far.

First of all. Anyone familiar will know, that the traffic on the North Shore roads sucks on the weekends, probably worse than the south fork, because there are only 2 roads east and west.

I have come up with somewhat of a plan that I thought might be a nice run. I have never organized anything like this before so, any input and feedback would be appreciated.

I'm a local out here in Southampton, and I know most of the nice roads and local attractions. I thought of combining the drive with some nice scenery like, beaches, estates, lighthouses, windmills, yachts, etc.. Could make for some nice pics or video. There will be some 30 MPH speed limits for some of the stretches, but I've tried to limit this as much as possible, and get on the main roads when they are clean, avoiding most of the traffic. It would be about 4 hours long (could be shortened to 2 or so), go from Southampton out to Montauk Point and back. Touring the Hampton's villages of Southampton, Water Mill, Bridgehampton, East Hampton, Amaganset, Montauk and Sag Harbor.

The meet and greet would be in Southampton Village at say 9-10:30 AM at Coopers Beach parking lot ... large lot, nice location, (I will try to get some maps drawn up). I have arranged to have breakfast sandwiches and coffee delivered by The Village Cheese Shop, if interested.

Start time is say 11:00 AM proceeding east along the beach roads to Water Mill, then out on to the main road through Bridgehampton and on to East Hampton. In East Hampton, back off the main road for a beach road tour past the Maidstone Country Club, Jackie Kenedy's house, Seinfeld's place etc. for about 10 miles. Then back onto the main road and on to Montauk Point. There we can regroup in the large parking lot at the foot of the lighthouse. Restart again at 1:00 PM for the trip back west, through East Hampton and Sag harbor. The drive will finish at about 2:30 PM for lunch at a restaurant (working out details, I know of one that could provide a private room) in Southampton.

This sound OK? Is 4 hours too long?

Sorry for the delay, but my 308 just got back from major service, test driving revealed that some issues were not corrected, and has to back into the shop again!!! I hope I have this all straightened out soon. I need a good mechanic on the east end. I keep getting hosed just because it's a Ferrari.

That sounds like it would be a great little rally. I don't really have a preference for the length of the run; if we're going around to see some nice areas I think a 4 hour duration with meet and lunch wouldn't be bad at all as I've never really driven through the Hamptons (usually stick to the north fork).

Do you have any particular date in mind yet?
