Last year I had my convertible top material replaced and at the same time I had the hydraulic cylinders that close the windshield hooks rebuilt because of a small leak. Since then I have had intermediate problems where the top would fold halfway and then stop, but with the hydraulic motor still operating till it would time out. The first thing both my mechanic and myself thought was that one of the hydraulic cylinders was leaking on the inside and not allowing the piston to fully extend. I finally had a chance to take a good look at it with my mechanic present. We tried to fold down the top and it once again got stuck halfway open. We removed the front plastic trim piece and pulled the headliner back to see if we could locate the problem. Nothing looked obvious to us. When we hooked up the Lenardo diagnostic computer and went to the convertible top screen we noticed that one microswitch on the windshield hooks was reading “False” while the other was reading “True”. Upon closer examination we noticed that the two hooks that lock the top to the windshield were not in mirrored positions. It took a flashlight and reading glasses but we were able to see that the spring that keeps the hooks in the correct position was partially off from the correct location, keeping the hook in a slightly relaxed position. We took a small flathead screwdriver and placed the spring where it belonged, now the two hooks were in mirrored positions. The Leanardo registered both microswitched as “True” and the top now performs perfectly. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

It was when we pulled the hook open that the value registered as true. I’m gonna guess that it was the E.VV/A switch, but not 100% sure.
