I've been getting emails that read as follows. I've heard horror stories about how people get similar emails, and click on the links, only to find out these sites are run by scammers and their information is comprimised. Has anybody else gotten this sort of email? Is this just another scam? I will note that I've been getting these notices periodically for about a month, yet my eBay account is still alive and active, leading me to believe that this is indeed yet another scam.

    Would appreciate your thoughts.

    Thanks.

Do a rollover the link and see if is actually going to ebay.com.... DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK , just roll over it. It will probably be redirecting to another web address. Let us know......

It does take you to another link. Since the message is in an email, and not a web browser, you can't actually see the link by rolling over it. That being said, I did click on the link earlier and it took me to a log-in page that looked like the eBay login. That's where I stopped (ie, didn't log in). I assume I'm still safe.

I can't say if your safe. Some sites will try and load bad things on your computer just by being on their site. If the site you went to was not at ebay.com, it is a scam.

You should be able to roll over the link. What email program are you using?

I know what you're talkinga about, but I don't think it is one of the sites that tries to put spyware, or load a bug onto your computer. If that were the case, I've got enough protection that it would automatically warn me if stuff is being downloaded, including suspicious cookies.

But I do think the site is looking to get personal eBay data (username / login info), and that is what I am VERY wary of giving up.

I've been getting bogus e-mails about E-bay and Pay-Pal for about a year now. They almost got me at first but now I can spot them a mile away. The best thing to do if you have ANY question is send them to E-bay and see if they are real or not. Some of them are actually starting to look pretty close to the real deal too!!

The easiest way to spot them is they will be addresssed to "Dear E-bay User" or something similar. E-bay will ALWAYS address you by your user name, first clue. Second, most if not all the ones I've gotten have had some sort of grammatical or spelling errors in them. One I got was obviously written by someone who barely had a grasp of the english language, it was actually pretty funny! E-bay will also never send you an email asking for personal info, they already have it!!

If you think you entered info on a bogus site you need to to tell e-bay and change your password etc.

    Good luck

EDIT: after looking closer at the one you posted it is obviously a fake, your user name is not there is it?

No, my name is not there John. That, plus the fact that I've been gotten three or four of these messages over the course of six weeks, without anything happening in the absence of my responding (ie, the email notice indicates eBay will terminate my account if I don't respond, but the account is still alive and well), suggests that this indeed a scam.

Beware out there guys. They're getting better at this with each passing day.
