I'm interested in a nice, last model year boxer. anybody know anything about this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6212&item=4501518641&rd=1 thanks
i think with the low u.s. currency, it may be a good time to snag one out of the american market. dont blame me, blame bush.
Pinnacle is JRV of Ferrari-Talk and other "fame". Generally (I think) quite well regarded shop. Philip
I've looked at it....sat in it.....turned the steering wheel back and forth and said.."vroom vroom".... The owner is serious about getting his "ask" for the car that's why it's been reposted on ebay after stiffing last week at $57K.....be real, this car shopws "as NEW". JRV has been thru the notoriously weak rear end, and as far as I know it's good to go! Posssibly one of the nicest in the market IMO, an original LOW miles unabused adult owned one owner car. Priced accordingly IMO. I'd get my checkbook out and drive the he11 out of it ......DARN! I'm out of checks! Get my banker on the line.........
The $82,500 compares favourably to msdesigns $115K...............LOL! No offense Micheal , yours is very nice, as well.... Better thought NONE of you buy it and I'll be ready in a few more years, this Owner isn't in a hurry. It's been "available" to the right folks for three YEARS! At $82,500.00. DON'T BUY IT, I'm serious.....it's much too nice for YOU..... DON'T BUY IT.......EVER!!!!!!
The car looks OK...but, to be honest with you, it looks like it has more miles on it than advertised. My 1982 BB512i, s/n:42213 now has 18,xxx miles and the engine, bonnet compartment and interior looks a lot better than that car...as least from how the photographs look. It has the wrong radio too which is expensive to replace, if you can find one to begin with. The spare is also suppose to have two stickers, one on the wheel and one on the tire itself whereas that car only has the wheel sticker. The owner really should have detailed the car before posting photos of it on Ebay , the interior, engine and bonnet area are filthy. Those ugly rubber bumpers and side marker lights don't do it any justice either, which aren't cheap to remove to get the car back to euro-spec appearance, especially since whoever converted it foolishly mounted them in the upper aluminum fenders rather than in the lower fiberglass part which is much easier to patch and refinish . It looks like a #3 driver at best unless the photos aren't showing the real condition of the car. By the way, what is that black cylinder in the rear of the engine just over the muffler shielding ?
It was DOT Federalized by Ferrari of Houston. Tire stickers? Dunno. I think Enzo farted in the seat as well....... DON"T BUY IT!!!! Clean it??? Detail it???? I think if you come with The Buy It Now we can find you a detailer! LOL!
You ever run into any trouble UN Federalizing your lights and bumper????? Again, this car was originally delivered thru FoH......
Does Cavallino Motors still have the Boxer?? Martin???? They had a Red/black at $76,500.00, I'd like red/black better.....VIN#45629. A White/Tan in FCA Newsletter at $83,500 'ask' so this guy's not far off.....VIN #43797. I love Boxers........
Bass cannon...what is that? As far as bumpers and side lights, in Georgia we do not have vehicle inspections other than for emissions. As far as service records are concerned, they tell you nothing other than what the odometer indicated when the owner had service work done. A lot of crooks drive their cars with the odometer disconnected, but connect it back up before going in for service so the service records show a few miles were driven from the last time it was in the shop. But, this car may really have that low of miles and was just not stored properly making it look like it has higher mileage. Wait to the FFQC and look at my unrestored 18,xxx 1982 Boxer and see how it compares.
Bubba. I know the history of that car. It is NOT a one owner car. It has been in Houston from day one. I am pretty sure of that. It is NOT a one-owner car though. Also. Where are the original factory books and pouches mentioned ?
Those Bass Cannons are very rare and valuable. I remember when we ran the 512BBLM at Le Mans. We always played Cream at 11/10 through that puppy to atomise the fuel. Good for at least 5mph.
"in a white room with black curtains, at the station........" ROTFLMAO! *Fender stratocaster wails* How about that OBE for Eric?????? WARNING: Thread Hijack ahead!!!!! LOL! My mistake about the number of owners......thanks Ralph!!!!!! The guy's phone number is listed in the ad, ring him up! I was just KIDDIN" about the Bass Cannon!!!!! REALLY! It has been updated with a CD, it looks like, I did my car too. It took a chop saw!
Is it me or do the rear tires look the same size as the front? They look too small. I know Coker tire no longer carries the proper rear size TRX for BBis just the fronts, maybe the owner couldn't find TRX rears in the proper size. The car would be much more salable and look better IMO if the rear fibreglass wing was painted black along with the decklid covers, it takes away from the detail they provide to the look of the car, and I agree with Frank they really should fix those side markers and they should have put them in the fibreglass bumper covers much easier to return to Euro spec as opposed to needing to weld in a patch in the Aluminum decklids, not a very well thought out conversion.
I'd think the side lights had a height specification....the glass side panel would have been too low. Euros have the lights they are just smaller....round, IIRC.
FYI, the TRX tires on a BB512i are the same size for the front and rear. The rear wheels are larger than the front though which make the tires look bigger too. And, my BB512i had the conversion side lights mounted in the lower fiberglass body and it passed the DOT conversion requirements before they were removed and the holes then patched .
familiar to most of us as it's been on ebay a few times. cosmetically it appears leagues ahead, imo. no ugly bumpers, no ugly side markers, correct loovers, spoiler. mileages is higher, but probably honest. from the pics this one looks tasty. and last 'buy it now' price i recall was under 70k. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6212&item=4500783216&rd=1
ANOTHER nice example! Maybe we need a 'sticky' "Boxers we know" Thread! LOL! As stated above, I'd like red/black better and that one has properly painted exterior bits and euro lights.......the red/tan is WAY lower miles, and MUCH nicer interior IMO. That black driver's seat is pretty trashed. I guess it's a coin flip...wanna do interior trim, or bodywork? What happened to the 100,000 mile Chicago car....black/black on eBay by Ken Sr.??????????
