13k miles! Impressive price! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferrari-1992-FERRARI-FERRARI-F40-COLLECTOR-SUPERCAR_W0QQitemZ220188730322QQihZ012QQcategoryZ6212QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
"92779" has been around for a while and the car's connections had initially hoped for $475k-ish, so $520k is a very healthy number. Adjust accordingly... $500k is the starting point. This is the 194th USA F40 built out of 211/213 producton cars. Joe www.joesackey.com
Nice looking F40 But with that mileage, I wouldn't give them a penny over 475. Congrats to the buyer regardless
This car was available for approximately $415K less than a year ago. I almost bought it before I purchased my CGT. Josh
It also still appears to be in SVAGs inventory. The car was purchased by SVAG from a broker. It subsequently appeared in the Sports Car Company's inventory. http://www.siliconvalleyautogroup.com/current_stock/ferrari/ferrari_2003/photo_page.html Josh
Fair enough. Fortunately for the sellers of this car, your opinion means nothing at all. It is an opinion no less, but it is removed from reality today. Joe www.joesackey.com
Any regrests you didnt buy this car at $415k last year, and sell it on Ebay now at $520k? Joe www.joesackey.com
Hey Joe, I regret having not purchased a F40 5 years ago when I first seriously considered one and, I suppose, every year since. As I've mentioned I don't regret my CGT purchase. I also don't regret passing on this example. It wasn't the right car for me. Moreover, this "sale" seems unsubstantiated - the car sat unsold at SVAG for approximately 9 months. The Sports Car Company's pics are from SVAG. Its still shown in SVAG's inventory. Not saying the auction's not legit, its just that the fact pattern is a bit murky. That being said, I will purchase a F40 in '08. It's time. Josh
I think someone realized that the supply of good cars isnt great and decided it was time. Always happy to help if I can... Joe www.joesackey.com
the stock market since the first of the year doesnt support such a wild price for an F40.....however, I expect them to dip a bit this year
Please people don't get all excited. The $520K included sales tax, delivery and broker premium. Therefore the true raw price was closer to $480K.
So the seller is paying the sales tax when he registers the car? Unusual. but OK. Just surprised it doesn't say that in the auction...
The sales tax was collected to satisfy the lender who did the financing and requires that the sales tax becomes part of the transaction. The local Ill. dealer that did the actual paperwork for this valued customer charged the appropriate tax, as that is what they have to do. There were actually two third party fees paid to get the deal done.
