I have never bought or sold anything on Ebay. I have no clue how PayPal works. I want to start selling on EBay. How easy is it? Thanks in advance, PeterS
It's fairly simple, but just don't use paypal. I've heard of too many horror stories about accounts getting hacked or drafted for the wrong amounts. Keep in mind PAYPAL is not a sercure bank. I think some here on Fchat in Houston had their account hacked for $20,000+ if I remember correctly. Just accept money orders to get started. I need to place more items up for sale myself to build up my accout status, it's a great way to clear out old items that you have no use for & make extra cash. Good luck Will aka TXBEBOP on EBAY
I've used e-bay and paypal and have never had any trouble with either. I find it quite easy to use and have found some interesting books on there for my course. So not everyone has problems with that site.
same here. but the guys that I do know who have had problems in the past are floating serious dollars through paypal. let me know if I can help out peter.
Wow, I don't think I can beat two dollars and fifty cents a day, though I would be happy to do the job for 2,500 (two thousand five hundred) dollars per day
Uhm, I forgot that the wild tribes in the new world are confusing "," and "." I´m afraid my lack of knowledge does qualify me rather for the 2.50 than for the 2,500 range ... ... I will visit the "owned"-thread now and choose a nice picture for myself
Peter, I don't know how much stuff you need to sell, but one thing you may consider are that there are established e-bay sellers who will sell the stuff for you, then take a small cut. I've used a guy here locally that does that stuff. You give him the stuff, he sells it on ebay for you, then a couple weeks later, you get a check. The cut he takes is a percentage of the selling price, and varies by how much you sell it for. I understand there are brick and mortar stores now cropping up that do the same thing. You drop off your stuff, then get a check in a few weeks. It maybe worthwhile checking out. Since I don't sell alot of stuff, doing it this way saves me alot of hassels, and I don't mind paying them a cut to do all of the dirtywork. Dom
One thing about paypal. If your deal goes sour, and the guy takes off with the $$$ you sent, they toss their hands up in the air, point to your agreement with them and tell you tough luck. However, as long as you are prepared to get banned by paypal, you always have recourse through the credit card company you use with paypal. DO NOT USE A CHECKING ACCOUNT. Use a visa or mastercard to pay for the items through paypal. If the seller hoses you, put in a claim with the CC company, they will get you repaid. But, immediately thereafter, paypal will cancel your account with them. I've been down this road and speak from personal experience, got my money, got my account bounced out by paypal. There are other ways to get paid, and, you can always open a new paypal account. I've bought and sold a couple of hundred items on ebay, mostly without incident. It's a great way to unload stuff, and find hard to find car parts. DM. If you want more on how ebay and paypal work, PM me.
I am between a rock and a hard place with Paypal. I think I have about $50 sitting in it from things I've sold, but I can't access it. I forgot the pwd, so I click "request forgotten password." I set up the account some time ago, and for whatever reason, I'm sure I had one, I set it up using the email address that corresponds with my cellphone service. So they send me a link... but in the web mail client that I use to get email sent to that account, you can't copy/paste or click a link. It's retarded. So I call and try to request that they reset my password. They ask me all sorts of silly questions to verify who I am, and I tell them everything they want to know, and then they ask for the last 4 digits of the # I have on file. I read them straight off my card, and she tells me, sorry, thats not correct. Whoops. I forgot I lost my card a while ago and had it cancelled and replaced. I don't have time to chase it any longer, so I am jut going to write it off to a lesson learned. Note to self: Don't use paypal any more.
I've done about 200 transactions on ebay WITHOUT Paypal. I simply ask for a Money order or cash. Money orders are simple because you can buy them at the Post Office or Bank and the Fee is very low. Most people just wrap cash in a few sheets of paper and put it in the mail. I've only had 1 payment go missing. I've got 2 negative feedbacks, both were ment for someone else and left on me by mistake. Be aware that if you have a "0" feedback it may take a while for people to trust you with payment.
I've been a member (& stockholder) of eBay since 1998 and have been on PayPal almost as long. Never had any problems what so ever, with either of them. We even use PayPal for our local Ferrari Club events/deposits. It's very handy.
