Ok my third rant on eBay frustration - I'm just venting here. I'm cleaning out a bunch of stuff I had lying around... much of it not used in a few years. I had 2 R/C cars, one a gas powered truck, another a gas powered car. Once I got the truck, I never used the car again. I noticed the air filter is missing and there is no radio receiver, etc. There's nothing wrong with it, but I dont want to deal with claiming it's perfect, so I just said it hadn't been run in a while, I had no gas for it and didn't know how to get it running, and that was the condition. It will probably go for $50-70 so not to sound snobby but it's not worth my time to take video of it running or have it checked out by a local shop, etc, etc. Basically just want to get rid of it. So I get a "question from eBay member". He writes this rude email asking "how I can claim I don't know how to get the car running when I am selling another truck that I am claiming works fine". On my truck auction, he sends a question asking where are the manuals and the original box. People like this bug me. I say in the car auction "if theres anything you want me to do or check on the car, just let me know and I will do it". Why not just ask if I can turn it over or if he can send it back if it doesn't work (which he could have)? Why be a prick? Why do people automatically think they are in the power position if they're the buyer? I'm not biting my nails hoping and praying someone buys the frickin car - rather I'm going to get a fraction of what I have invested in this car that ran for about 2 hours total... but this guy wants to run me through the wringer over a car that will fetch maybe $70? So I wrote back and told him not to bid and I am not interested in his business... not in a rude way, just said I would not want to sell it to him but thanks anyways. Whats up with people? Did common courtesy go out the window a long time ago or what?
Mike, I hear ya' and having sold two cars and a motorcycle, among some other minor things, can feel your frustration. I'm sure you're asking yourself if it's really worth the sale if you're having to put up with this crap. You may find simply retracting the damn thing may be the best way to go. Reference the quote, people can be awfully brave when they're in a room, alone, sittin' in front of a keyboard. Dane
