Beware: The red '67 330 GTC on Ebay is probably a scam. No reserve, and in the questions section he claims he's asking $30K for the car. Item # 150376166016
Noticed this yesterday.....can't believe that people think they appera legitimate with these types of ads. BTW the car looks clean. Maybe the seller missed a "0" in the BIN.
Nope, all wrong. The problem with the world today is that there is just not enough trust. I just bought the car $20K (yes, I stold itl!). Yep, wired the money and the owner promised to send me the key to the shipping container in which the car is stored in Montana of all places. Think I messed up?
The scammer is back again with the same ad and pictures of supposedly SN 10927. Ebay auction # 150380811629 The ad looks so innocuous. No reserve, hummm....
I know it sounds suspicious, especially with a 0 feedback seller, but why is everyone positive it's a scam? Has anyone gone to look at the car? Has anyone contacted the seller to see if he agrees to a PPI? I agree that such a classic, with no reserve, is unusual. But not unheard of. Would just be interesting if someone actually investigated it further. A search on that serial number shows it sold in 2003 for $88,000.
That's what they depend on, that little greedy voice in your mind, "woah I am going to be able to buy this car for a lot less then it's worth." There are quite a few street scams in NYC and I have sophisticated friends who have been totally taken in and very naive friends that didn't get scammed because they only wanted to help the scammer. The only difference was the greed of the scammed party who thought they could take advantage of the situation or get something cheaper then it should be. In one case two friends got approached at different times and places by someone who found a "rare coin" that had a phone number and reward written on the coin sleeve. My female friend tried so hard to help the hunched over, destitute, scammer until he finally stood up straight as she was pushing him into a cab to collect the reward and said, "Lady it's a scam! Leave me alone." My other, more greedy friend, just ended up with a worthless coin that he paid $50 for to collect the "$200, reward." It never ceases to amaze me that there are still people who believe there is a million dollars in a bank account in Africa waiting for them.
I've sent two emails to the seller: no response. The car was bid up to over $60K yesterday, but then some bidders strangely retracted their bids and the car was back down to $2500. Now it's up to over $25K again. In the scammer's first auction he made the mistake of saying he would take $30K for the car. I informed Ebay this is a $200K car and they pulled the ad. This time the scammer is just staying quite. And even though he used the same wording and pictures as before, Ebay will not (or cannot) pull the ad because there is no glaring evidence. To all those trusting souls out there: instead of bidding on this car and receiving nothing, just send me your cash and I will send you a picture of a GTC and a Thank You note.
After Ebay removed his ad, one "Moses Thompson" sent me an email stating I can still buy the GTC for $30,000.
This must be a joke!!! My name is Moses Thompson.Looks like I'm not real ???? OK... This Saturday I'll have a party, celebrating her 19 anniversary.I don't know exactly how can you people just discuss over someone without knowing him.My economical issues are due to some incompetent people just like you, and I'm free to ask whatever price I want for my car.Is it better to ask 200k for my car and never sell it???? anyway... thanks to a good guy I found out about this forum and it will be reported. Moses T.
What is the address of the party (four_4_question marks for emphasis)???? Will there be an ATM on the premises????
LOL!!!! (Four exclamation points, 'cause that's a big funny) I'm going to be on the edge of my seat for this one. After all, F-chat is going to be reported!
Mr Moses, I live very close to you. I sent you a message saying I'd like to see the car! why did you not respond? I can be at your house in an hour; I can come up this evening to see it. I'll bring $30,500 if you can wait til tomorrow.
Where was the car listed for sale? I'd like to see if it matches up with some information I have about ME_MOSES. OH, and anyone who got an email from him, if you can PM me the return email addy from him, that would be VERY helpful. THX, DM
HA!! This stuff is great. Its Holy Moses!! Dude, we are looking for you. Put up another scam and we will be there. Hey guys, how about this idea. Since ebay now makes it basically easy to screw the sellers why don't we use it to our advantage. Unless Moses here (and any of his Nigerian cohorts) can convince us he is really selling the car and is on the level I have an idea that will make it just that much harder for these a-holes to scam people. When he lists another Ferrari lets run the bid up to 100 million dollars, maybe a billion. Then lets not pay and post negative feedback. Lets see how high we can get the auction. I have a user ID that I haven't used in years. I don't care, I'll use it to win a few auctions. Take note Mosass. We're watching.
