Hi guys. I'm In South Africa and wanting to buy on Ebay. I have seen the many -- ALERT EBAY SCAM -- Messages on the chat board and obviously this is cause for concern. Im my case i want to buy a Jetski ( a model thats un-available in SA) and since i am paying the same shipping costs, an ATV too as they as so much cheaper than sold in SA. The two items are $14500.00 together. The Ebay'er has a sterling reputation as indicated by the responses of his prior sales with 114 responses of 'great ebayer' 'smooth sale' etc. and only one saying he was a "liar liar liar" with no explanation as to why He is a "Power seller". I dont know if this all counts for much. I have mailed him and he responds well to mail and gave me his number. I called and he sounds like a nice bloke. How do i pay for these things from SA ( wire only ) without ending up waiting at the docks for goods that never arrive ? Whats a good payment / delivery protocol to follow ? This bloke is in Ooltewah, Tennissee. Thanks Greg.
Hi. Not too familiar with that. Ok so i send them the money and they release it for me whenit can be proved he has shipped the goods. Great idea. Any ideas of who i should use ? I suppose a US company would be best ? Do the Banks offer such a service ? Many thanks. Skin.
Try to use one that he recommends and feels comfortable with. I think the big red flags come when someone is wanting to purchase for more than the amount, purchasing with a personal check or money order (which is not legit) and purchasing through "my brother's escrow service/account/etc.). Best of luck.
