Hello Everyone! There is currently a 1988 Red Testarossa on ebay that is located in the northern suburbs of Chicago, 35 minutes from downtown. The description says that "Giovanni" has done all the maintenance on the car. Does anyone know this car? The add mentions some small dents in the righ rear quarter panel, other than this the car "seems" to be nice. Can paintless-dent-removal take out dings in aluminum? Any information you can provide is greatly apprecated. My TR search is continuing......

"Giovanni" is a well known and respected mechanic specializing on Italian cars. If you are looking at a TR, the last thing to be concerned about are a few dents.

If Giovanni did the maintenance, then that actually speaks for the car.

It might even be his own TR. The garage behind the car in the pics is actually Giovanni's.

Thanks Zinhead for the information. Yes I may seem "nitpicky" about "dents" but cosmetics are very important to me. If the dents were in an area that is not readily visible I would feel better. But the listing says the dents are above the right rear wheel well....might as well put a bright orange sticker there saying "see these dents!". I can do any mechanical work needed myself, so unless there is some major internal problem with the gearbox or motor I'm not worried.

And Thank You Too Andreas...your views make me feel better also.

If anyone else out there would care to chime in here that would be great...I'm sitting on the edge of my seat...

So you can do paint, for a few hundred...

That money won't even drop the gearbox from the car, much less repair it!

Yes BigTesx paint can be done for a few hundred...but would it be detectable? That is my main worry. I have had many nice cars over the years and it's extremely rare that any paint repairs were acceptable to me. Any texture or "shade" difference is unacceptable. Okay go ahead....I'm ready to accept any and all flames at this point...and I'm putting on my flack jacket. As I mentioned earlier any mechanical issues short of major damage internally isn't a problem. I've performed engine-out services on TRs before and am quite familiar with them.

Hello Jerrari: I'm still looking other cars, a Grigio one, a Silver one, and perhaps this Red one. Since I'm only about 4 hours drive from the Red one I'm thinking it may be worth the drive this week to take a look personally. I'm playing the shell game in my mind...which car....which color....?

Jamesautoforum: Thank You Very Much for telling me your experiences on the dent issue. This is EXACTLY what I'm worried about. Can a Quarter panel be spot-painted and blended in so well that a picky eye wont see it?

It's my opinion that any time a seller says "tiny dent" or "hardly noticeable" or "nothing to worry about" you can bet that 90% of the time it's worse than the words would have you believe. They are trying to sell the car after all. I understand this. But to have a cosmetic issue in a spot that you would have to look at it each and every time you walk towards your car....well...I just have a hard time with it. Thank You again folks for your views.

Continental Autosports Ferrari/Maserati in Hinsdale has a Fantastic "Dent Guy". He took out a few on my 308 and you would never even know that they ever existed. Call Gary or Scott over there. 630-655-3535. Maybe, if you decide to buy that Car. While you are here picking it up. You can coordinate a specific day to get that done with them.

Judging from the length of the word on the license plate, the car appears to be Dr. Fribergs car, which, if any of you know Doc, would mean that this car is one of the best maintained TRs out there and would be a great buy for somebody.
