Do many of you out there have saved searches on ebay with email updates turned on?

Over the past few months I've found my "Lamborghini Miura" search to become almost useless as the real items get overwhelmed by clutter. With only 12 items in each update mail, there's no knowing if real items have been posted. All I see are car covers, seat covers, wheel covers, etc.

My update today pushed me over the edge; 154 new items posted and my email highlighted 12 "Silver ABS Hub Caps" for a Lamborghini Miura. How absurd is that? This item was listed as being compatible with 276 different car models!

I finally contacted eBay to report the seller, in this case "carcoverman" (there are others). You have to contact customer support through the link, get a phone number and PIN, then call in to talk to an agent. She told me she would report the seller and work to take down the listings.

I don't know what action ebay will take in the end, but we need to push for change. I can't track all of these spammers, but perhaps if all the F'chatters start calling in we can make some progress and make eBay useful again.

    Thanks in advance,

    Alex

My current favorite is "swautobodyparts" that has 83 listings for "repainting" bumpers when you do a search for "Countach".

I've got to the point when I do my search I enter it as: "Countach -bumper -cover" which eliminates about 1400 worthless items just between those 2 items!

That's a great idea. I've not tried that before.

Would still like to shut these spammers down.

    Thanks!

eBay has become a toilet of useless listings.

I miss the old eBay when you knew who was bidding and there was actually stuff worth bidding on.

The Maserati section id over 17K listings now. Who knew there was that much "Maserati" out there. :(

    How true!

I can remember back when I bought my Jalpa in 2002 and would search for spare parts. I'd get back about 15 to 20 hits and most were real parts for a Jalpa. Today, you type in "Jalpa" and you'll get 100's of car covers, xenon headlamp conversions, seat covers, bumper painting, steering wheel covers, floor mats, etc...

It's even worse for the Countach.....

Given ALL the changes they've made we should walk with our feet but to where?

I gave up looking for parts a year or 2 ago. Only if I need somethingn specific, which is sad. I use to really like sorting through all the factory parts.

Yep. It was always such a great place to find some older parts! Remember when Joe Nastasi Racing was clearing out all their old Lambo parts? My gosh, I bet I scored $10K worth of Jalpa parts from them "back in the day" through eBay.

I wanted to run a test, so I typed in "Lamborghini Jarama". It came back with 565 items!

388 of those were car covers, wheel covers and seat covers
    86 were Bumper Paint service
    20 were floor mats.

That left about 79 items, and there were still some seat covers, brake caliper painting kits mixed in. Amazing.....

This really sucks. I have taken on a few posters (Like) indicating that this wheel cover will not fit my Countach or Gallardo. Normally I am met with some verbal abuse, others promise to remove it. Never happens.

It is a lost fricking cause.
