Thank you to those that advised on what to look out for when buying a watch from ebay. I had been looking for a nice entry level watch to help keep my watch collection in motion and I finally purchased it shortly after. Now I know what people mean when they say the hunt is an experience all in itself! I wound up buying a 1963 551cal Omega Seamaster. I particularly like the simple yet classy style and the fact that it is from 1963 which is the year my dad was born. It arrived at my parents house yesterday and I asked my dad to open it. I told him that if he liked it, he could keep it as a gift. He said he loved it and it belonged on his wrist so I was more than happy than keeping it for myself. I can always buy another watch in the future. =)

Nice watch! I have a couple 60s vintage Omegas I bought on ebay that I'm very happy with. Enjoy it!

She runs great actually thank you! It was stated that a recent service had been performed but I am still taking it in to have it looked at.

Ask your watchmaker about the case tube. It looks like it sticks out a bit too far. Shouldn't the crown be a bit more flush to the case? Getting a factory crown for the watch should not be an issue at all, so you might want him to look into that as well.

The case tube actually sits perfectly flush. I have no idea why it looks like that on those pictures. I had asked the seller to send me additional pictures of the watch at certain angles and it looks perfect as far as fitment goes. The only thing I would want to have replaced is the band.

Thank you! Like a lot of members here advise, buy the seller not the watch. I was able to learn how the seller operated and found many positive transactions on his behalf. I also found comfort knowing he accepted full refunds if I were to be unsatisfied in any way. I try to stick with watches in original good condition as opposed to watches that had the parts replaced or have had a redial. You get what you pay for in other words. I am sure there are things I am forgetting to mention at the moment but it basically comes down to doing research on the watch you are planning on buying and especially the seller. Good luck!
