I thought it was good. TOOOOO long though, fights were definitely drawn out more than they had to be... and this is coming from someone who loves seeing things get blown up and destroyed.

    Overall, first one was better.

Whats not to like about two sterio-typed robots, talking Thug (jive), New Street Talk Iheet (right)..!

"Skids and Mudflap, twin robots disguised as compact Chevys, constantly brawl and bicker in rap-inspired street slang."

One homie even has a gold tooth.
and, they both can't read. ha ha ha
    :)
    Nope, they are not black.
But, Jessie Jackson gonna get pissed.

If this argument point were valid, then why are there good Spider Man, Batman, etc, movies?

If you're going to spend a few hundred million on a movie, why not at least make a good storyline and plot? It won't add any costs. Why not put it in there? I mean, don't people have pride in their quality of work? Is the point to do the bare minimum to collect your paycheck, or is it better to excel and leave a good legacy and earn positive rep?

Star Wars, Matrix, Blade Runner and others are proof that Sci-Fi movies can be great works. Spider Man, Dark Knight are proof that movies from kids cartoons can be great too. Toy Story and Chicken run and others show us that kids movies can be great.

Sorry, but Transformers (the movies) just suck. They oriented them towards the lowest common denominator... too bad, coulda been great.

You know it's a bad movie when even Megan Fox can't save it.

I don't know if you saw this movie "Coraline" but its exactly what I appreciate in good movie making. Ok, it's not even on my top 100 list but the animation is incredible, the story, characters, and writing are very interesting, the acting is up to snuff, the ending is a bit of a surprise, and most of all... it's entertaining for kids and adults. It's a clever use of cinema.

Not ever movie has to be Citizen Kane. But, for my money, I want more than CGI robots shooting lasers at each other for 2 hours to get my thumbs up.

    Exactly.

If cool effects were all it took to make for great entertainment, you could watch your buddy playing Halo for a couple hours. Lots of robots running around shooting lasers, explosions, people flying through the air.

Hey, that's all it takes to make for a great flick, no? :)

They should have had them as an '82 Cutlass and '64 Impala to go completely stereotype.

I kinda liked the first one. That intro scene was badass. I usually only like realistic moives but i went to see Transformer as just entertainment and not something that would lift my IQ.

I caught the early show this afternoon despite filling up fairly fast. Parts of it I liked in a Tom Clancy novel but quickly became extremely juvenile with crud jokes (dogs & robots humping) & plenty of plot holes. The CGI is better, at least there are more daylight shots rather than night battles.

The “twin ghettobots” (Chevy prototypes couldn’t help GM’s already screwed up image.) I found they were extremely annoying in a Jar-Jar Binks kind of way. When one of them was about to get killed off, I had a moment of happiness but was soon let down. Damn you Michael Bay.

It ran longer than I expected, one funny comment stated by a child sitting behind me “is it over yet?” I was about to start laughing when I heard that. Poor kid must have been bored with all the explosions or his AAD couldn't keep him focused on this lost plot.. This is not a film for small children, much more fighting & cussing than I expected but that’s just me being a grumpy curmudgeon. It will worth adding to the Blue Ray collection for the visual effects but it could have been done a lot better.

I think, the part which was crap, was they didn't focus on how the robots transform. I still loved the moment Barricade and Blackout transformed slowly and perfectly in the 1st movie. Speaking of Barricade, where the heck was he?

Secondly, I think with the Bay introduced way too many robots, and didn't spend much time on them. I mean those 3 bikes at the start...no news from them later on. What about SideSwipe? Jolt? That Audi R8? Nothing.

I am with Ryan and the rest of you who want these movies to be more cartoony and less hocus-pocus when it comes to the design of the characters, and how the transformation happens.

The biggest problem I have with it all is that the camera DOES NOT STAY FOCUSED on the robots transform and throughout the action sequences. Dirty trick to keep from exposing crappy character design and crappy animation.

I like the suggested analogy to Toy Story. My perfect cocktail mix would be 45% Toy Story, 55% Terminator movies.
