I SIMPLY DONT UNDERSTAND THIS GUY... EVERYTIME WE TALK, IT ENDS UP IN A BASHING MATCH.... HE IS TOTALLY ABRUPT,HAS NO RESPECT, AND SIMPLY TALKS IN A 5 TH WORLD LANGUAGE.... IS IT ME??? OR DOES THIS KID NEED TO HAVE AN ARSE WHIPPING?? HELP ME UNDERSTAND HIM GUYS...HES BACK ON MY IGNORE LIST AS I WAS ALERTED BY 2 MEMBERS ABOUT HIS "RACISM WORD"..YESTERDAY, THAT ENDED UP IN ERASING "WHERES ED THREAD" THANKS TO ALL, BRUCE
He does seem to have an edge to him. He actually sounds like a 9th grader that is going to a shock factor with the racial slurs.
chris is a cool dude. he's a straight up tell u in ur face what he thinks and doesnt have to hold back what he thinks for real. not like many of the vaginaz u see on this board
I only met Chris once but from what i hear his comments are all fun and games and he does not really mean anything by them. Also from other people who have met Chris i have heard he is a very nice guy.
I have only dealt with him once before, after one of the GP's at FoCJ where his driving style was childish and dangerous. Last night I was appalled at his insensitive and demeaning racial slurs I was embarrassed by him, and his ignorant and flippant manor. This is not how an educated man living in the US is expected to behave. The joke / comment / slur was one thing but refusing to apologize was even worse. I typically stay out this type of thread, but I refuse to have others judge all of the members of the NY Tri-State section (Note..I chose my words carefully and did not put EC Crew / boys / players / etc.) by one immature person. PS....before everyone starts to go off on me, please keep in mind, do you want to be associated with or be defending an out right racist / bigot? That's what one is by refusing to apologize and make a further racial slur.
GREAT STATEMENT ADAM!! BRAVO! I ALSO TOOK THE RACIAL SLUR AS AN EMBARRASMENT TO ME, NOT NEEDED HERE...... IN RESPECT TO ALL THE EC CROWD, I HAVE MET AND SPOKEN TO JUST ABOUT ALL OF THEM, GREAT PEOPLE, ( YES BRAD, YOU TOO) CHRIS NEEDS A WAKE UP CALL ABOUT RESPECT AND CONTROLLING HIS MOUTH....MAYBE HUBERT YOU CAN HELP HIM BRUCE
dont know what your referring to waasn't able to read the thread, but Chris is a good guy, i've been out with him on many nights, could just be a case of not being able to feel the tone of the post over the net? but again i didn't read it.
Rob...there was no other feel for the tone but upsetting.....Chris asked if someone was a "N" word. Then tried to say it was not a big deal, it was street slang, and he calls his own people by slang terms. Cut and Dry no need to Feel the thread.
OK, I know both Bruce and Chris, granted, not well. Both good guys, but different. I understand Bruce getting upset. I also think, knowing Chris, he did not mean a racial slur. This forum does at times have a "locker room" atmosphere, so some of the joking may be crude, etc. I take my lead from the owner of this site, the one whose name we dare not speak, and Rob (oops, I speaketh it) often goes for a more laissez faire approach, so I do too. Even so, half this board should have been banned at one time or another; just look at the posting rules and figure out if that could have applied to you. I try to avoid that. Solutions? I dont know. Im just a moderator, not your father. You all have one of those already, and dont need one is reserve. You are all smart guys. Work it out. In the meantime, I will just delete what I think inappropriate. So, if you can, please be nice and dont make me work hard at this.
Slang is Slang. When Miles Davis called me a "White Muther FU Cker" he was being affectionate. When the KKK called me a "****** Lover" they weren't.
Sometimes writing things online and hearing the manner in which they are spoken are lost in translation. Chris generally means nothing more than being sarcastic and funny, he really is a good guy. If you hung out with him, or asked for a favor, you would see that your misjudgeing him. Congrats on the car Chris I'm looking foward to our next run.
Actually, this is the reason for the hearsay rule of evidence. Because the trier of fact needs to SEE the person who speaks, or spoke, the words. Demeanor and just "reading" the PERSON is crucial. Merely reading what is written, does not tell the whole story. So, when READING what is written, try to see if there is another way to take it. When WRITING, please be aware that someone cannot always tell what you mean: serious/joking, etc.
I am sure Chris is a good guy. I am also sarcastic and sometimes have an acerbic sense of humor. I guess I was looking for him to edit his post, or to be a bit humble and say, Hey, it didnt come out like I meant it .sorry Then no big deal.
I think I've gotten to know Chris pretty well over the past several months, and he's one of the more down to earth and genuine people I've met. He's been very welcoming and friendly towards me from the first I've met him. I've also driven with him a lot, and though I wasn't there for the FoCNJ thing and therefore don't really know what ASG is referring to, I've got to say childish and dangerous doesn't sound like him. I'm a little confused by that. Calling his language "5 TH WORLD" strikes me as insulting and uncalled for. Then again, as someone who has lived and traveled in countries where I've been all too aware that my language skills would never match those who were born there, maybe I'm just being overly sensitive. All this said, I do wonder sometimes where some of Chris' posts come from. I have yet to see anything that I would read as deliberately insulting or hurtful (except when he's in his sparring matches with Keith--but my understanding is they both regard those as playful rather than hurtful), but more than once I've seen a post that could easily be misinterpreted, misread, requires context that isn't given, or can otherwise be problematic to those who wish to make it such. A few good posts just got made by others here, so I think anything more I'd say would be redundant. In fact, much of what I already said may be!
i thought everyone here always used the word "nukka" affectionately. we are all, after all, part of the new york tristate/EC area. i doubt any ill will was intended. i'd be surprised if woodear, being successful enough to own a CS and a 355, was really that ignorant or bad a guy. i guess it's not always fair to equate success with being a "nice" person, but typically, they will go hand in hand.
the last thing chris is...is a racist. bruce, if u meet him (dunno if u have or not) u can tell that he's a sincere down to earth guy like most of the people on the boards. he's someone that u can trust ur kids with. some people may not like and use the 'n-word' in any language, but when chilling with ur homies....slang my come out and the 'n-word' is then meant to mean 'homies' or 'brothers'. im not defending the use of the 'n-word', but sometimes i use it occasionally to signify the closeness of my friends. ie....what up my nigggggg__? = what's going down homie = what's up
Let's face it, I say, MAYBE it does take a certain person to get the point of wanting and getting an expensive and impractical toy like a Ferrari. In no particular order, go-getter, hard working, ambitious, aggressive, assertive, creative, persistent, and competitive. A person who maybe is used to being in charge and getting their way. I think that applies to most of us, except maybe, I dont know, Ed. None of these make anyone a bad or good person. Small wonder that so many strong personalities clash here at times.
