The tyre changing team is 4 pneumatic guns and 12 guys that would have to travel anyway because they also work in the car. A modern F1 car can´t be run with just "a few engineers and mechanics".

About the PR team, well, if it´s good it brings money, not wastes it.

As mentioned in Autosport-Plus' article he never mentions the fans in his departing commentary.....ever. He wont be missed by me. The 'sport' does not exist without fans, in person or otherwise.

It's a personal statement about his time in F1, from where it came from to where it is today, and a thank you to the people who he dealt with directly - It's not meant to be a general statement of what has happened in F1 over the years.

Think of it this way: It's like Frank Sinatra singing "My way"

In that song, Sinatra sings about how he did things to get where he did, and the struggles he had to face and over come, to achieve what he did.

At no point does he actually mention the other people in his life who must have helped him achieve what he did, and get to where he did.

Based on your post, the song would be called "Our Way" and Sinatra would have had to sing:

And now, the end is near,
And so I face the final curtain,
My friend, I'll say it clear,
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain,

I've lived a life that's full with help from My friends, family, colleagues and assosciates,
I've travelled each and every highway with everyone else in My life who have helped and supported Me,
But more, much more than this,
    We did it our way,

    Regrets, we've had a few,
But then again, too few to mention,
We did what we had to do,
And saw it through without exemption,

I planned each charted course with help from others,
Each careful step along the byway,
And more, much more than this,
    We did it our way,

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew,
When we bit off more than we could chew,
But through it all, when there was doubt
We ate it up and spit it out,
We faced it all and we stood tall,
    And did it our way,

We've loved, We've laughed and cried,
We've had our fill, our share of losing,
    And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing,

To think we did all that,
And may I say - not in a shy way,
Oh no, oh no, not us,
    we did it our way,

For what is a man, what has he got,
If not himself, then he has naught,
To say the things he truly feels,
And not the words of one who kneels,
The record shows we took the blows,
    And did it our way,

    Yes, it was our way.

As I say, the song doesn't go like that because it's a man's personal reminiscence about his own life, so everyone else is left out.

And in the same way, Ecclestone's statement is his personal reminiscence about his life in F1.

Experts doubt Ecclestone will go quietly

The F1 world is poised to discover 'deposed' supremo Bernie Ecclestone's next move.

The sport's long-time but now former chief executive has denied reports he is planning a breakaway series, but some commentators are refusing to believe the 86-year-old Briton will simply fade into the night.

"Why should a man, who has always been the same for 86 years, suddenly say 'I'll just go away with this comical new title'?

"Sorry, but this is not Bernie," said former F1 driver Christian Danner, now a pundit for German television.

"I would not be surprised if something happens in the background and suddenly the whole situation looks completely different," he told Germany's motorsport-magazin.com.

The 'comical' title given to Ecclestone by Liberty Media is Chairman Emeritas', but some think Liberty would have been wiser to ensure his role is more hands-on.

"Of course it would be an advantage for Liberty and all of us if we could keep using the expertise of Ecclestone," Toto Wolff, the Mercedes team boss, told Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung newspaper.

"But it is a tightrope to walk if you want that but also want to emancipate from Ecclestone," he added.

F1 legend Alain Prost told the Italian newspaper La Repubblica that the Ecclestone era had to end eventually.

"Everything has an end," he said. "Bernie is 86 years old. It is natural, and even right, that sooner or later his era is over.

"The good news is that I understand that the new owners have a clear idea of what to do and are experts in communication and the show," Prost added.

Bernie and Trump have a lot in common ... both idiots that only think of themselves and their next pay cheque, i.e. "I'm rich, fnck the rest of you!"

Yeah, but we wait for the first "executive orders" to judge ...

I personally think that Liberty Media needs to put a lot more than the $8billions they bought F1 to make it work.

$8billions was the purchase price, now what's the investment planned to develop the business?

It may need a lot more $billions ...

+1 Agreed. I think if they do the live-stream ala MotoGP, possible 360 degree view and you can jump from driver to driver, AND they make it affortable depending on the market segment...overtime they should do well in that area of the business model.

Sometimes you have to break some eggs to make an omelette.

Half the people who voted. But ask yourself why voter turn out was so low. Or don't - I don't actually care what anyone thinks about our country. That's not one of the functions of our government - global popularity.

I'm happy you are finding it entertaining. Perhaps find a larger interest in your own government...or actually go to the politics section instead of annoying people that came here to talk F1 and not hear your half-baked trolling.

    Haha - nice.

Yes - even Brawn said this...something to the effect of, "I know I'm saying all the right things right now, but it is up to me to actually prove I can do them."

    Well good luck then mate.

Funny thing it is American companies that went to Mexico for cheaper production costs and last time I looked a few "terrorists" originated from Saudi Arabia but Trump has hotels and/or business dealings there ... lol

If only the world we're as simple as you see it - we could have a 12 year old run the country.

Don't be a sheeple; you're better than that.

    WEAK trolling.

You should take your arguments to the political section...if you have the huevos amigo.

    You appear to.

Okay enough from me and apologies. I really feel for you guys as I am/was not anti-American like a lot over here and in Australia. Unfortunately this will likely grow.

All the best and thank God Bernie has gone!

It's a helluva lot easier and cheaper to televise a UFC event, let alone MANAGE one.
F1 is a complex PITA where you have to accommodate EVERYONE.

    No, he died in 1988.

Just repeating this. Give Bernie a LITTLE respect in this regard.

I think the teams could vote a lot of things, but they don't.

They could easily boycott a race just like they did Indy when they had the tire problem.

Bernie improved safety because it was becoming a problem for the public and the drivers. Had that not been the case, I'm sure he would have been fine to let them continue dying.

I don't think Bernie was a major factor in improving safety.
Jackie Stewart, Lou Stanley, Dr Watkins and the GPDA were.
