I acquired two new in the box ECUs from Brian here on the forum. Thanks a ton!!! I want to wait to install them once I have as much protection for them as possible. I see these below linked heatsinks available on EAG, but are they actually available? Also, is there any other protection to consider? I added more grounds, but any way to protect against future possible voltage surges?

My current ECUs work, so I am in no rush to install these. This all may seem silly, but with the electrical history of my car, I just want to be as protected as possible before I put them in my car. Thanks for any help!

Where is this EAG heat exchanger getting fresh air from? I see the ducting, just not sure where it goes.

I could make those on my old bridge port for a fraction of that.

I can see the benefit of this or something similar to this when air is moving across the heatsink, but the heatsoak period, I would think, would be when we complete our drives and the car sits in garage etc
There will be no airflow and the surrounding air temp would be very high thus making the heatsink less effective
All I am saying, not sure this really addresses the issue completely
If it was me, and this was a project I was to take on ( not saying i would), i would investigate the possibility of moving the ECUs ( with some manufactured patch cords) ..after all isn't that what Ferrari did on the f430

I'd stay away from this product since the product description could suggest that the seller is either dishonest, technically clueless or both. From the link: "Don't let heat compromise your Ferrari 360's performance. The EAG Ferrari 360 ECU Heat Exchangers not only prevent premature ECU failure but also ensure smoother, more reliable performance."

It seems that the Ferrari community is extremely vulnerable to loudmouth and self-aggrandizing marketing schemes for some reason.
Or maybe it's just me, who got it all wrong again ...

Removing the electronics from heat all together would be ideal.

I am not familiar with the 360 ECUs' location. Would attempting to shield or insulate them from heat make the most sense? If the OEM Ferrari design is that the internal chips shed their heat into the ECU case then I would think adding a heatsink would be a benefit.

End of drive heatsoak temps shouldn't be greater with added heatsink since a heatsink would be an additional thermal mass (allegedly starting at a lower temp). I would guess be at worse equal to the non-heatsink ECU cover temperature. Both cases electronics unpowered just "dealing" with heat.

I would prefer relocating them, but just waiting for someone to come out with that.

I believe that was discussed but impedance or emi with un intended consequences was the concern

Heat sinks in most applications are a good idea but they rely on air flow to cool them. Otherwise they are soaking up heat and just holding-- with the unintended consequence of dissipating that heat where you don't want it. Some of which finds it's way back to the component you are trying to protect. my 2 cents.
