Eddie Jordan has been suffering with bladder and prostate cancer, which spread into the spine and the pelvis. Former Formula 1 team boss turned TV presenter has delivered an update on his health and urges that anyone suffering with health concerns to “go and get tested” Jordan, who worked at the Bank of Ireland before moving into motor racing, referenced Olympic cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy, who revealed in October that he has terminal prostate cancer and has been given between two and four years to live. Jordan said: “We’ve kind of alluded to it over the shows, way back in March and April, I was diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer, and then it spread into the spine and the pelvis, so it was quite aggressive. “We’ve all heard about our wonderful friend, Sir Chris Hoy, who’s an absolute megastar, and coming out and talking about illnesses such like what I’ve got, but he’s a far younger man. Go and get tested, because in life, you’ve got chances. And there is so much medical advice out there and so many things that you can do to extend your lifetime. “Go and do it. Don’t be stupid. Don’t be shy. It’s not a shy thing. Look after your body, guys.” Jordan admitted he had gone through difficult times since receiving his diagnosis. He added: “Some very dark days in there, but we pulled out of it, thankfully.”
Poor guy. Never really liked him, but cancer it just horrible. I've lost too many friends over the last 5 years to various forms of Cancer and I'm only in my 50's
Yes entertaining, keen and knowledgeable. One of my favorite paddock days includes him in the photo I have here. Was a fun day in Hockenheim that one! Certainly wish him the best and appreciate his open attitude fighting this disease.
It's not a lot of fun to live with but at least I know my expiry date Definitely got enough money to see me out unless my 3 ex-wives come back for more At least Eddie got Michael into the sport ...... he had no idea what he had on his hands
I like Eddie. This is a real shame. He certainly lived his life to the full. I love the fact that he was happy to leak stories before they became official, but he was nearly always right!
I loved hearing the interview with Takuma Sato talking about how he signed to Hordan, but Eddie wouldn’t let him go to race Macau. Eddie backed down and let him go when Sato said either he races Macau or “I don’t drive for you next year.” Then, Eddie invited Sato to the end of year Christmas party. To hear Sato tell it, he had no idea where the party was, but that Eddie would pick him up. Turns out Eddie picked him up, drive him to the airport, and hopped a private jet to somewhere in Ireland. Sato said that later in the evening he was just done, and kept asking “Eddie? Eddie? Can I go home now Eddie? I want to go home now.” Edit: here it is if you’re interested. https://dinnerwithracers.com/ep-102-takuma-sato/
I also got a kick out of Jeremy Clarkson (I think) talking about a new robot toy called the Jordan-Tron. Just pull a string in its back and “it talks ****e for half an hour.” Don’t get me wrong, I think Eddie is great, and I love some of his stuff. But he is also such a perfect guy to poke fun at and laugh at. And I’m pretty sure he’s aware of that too. Otherwise why the wardrobe choices? Wishing him all the best with his cancer fight. I’ve lost too many in my life to that disease. But I will always poke fun at the persona he was and is.
