    Factory Oil Pressure Sensor

Until recently, I've only used modern sensors with the ECU. Factory sensors went to the dash. The exception was the tach (frequency signal comes from the ECU through the old dinoplex wire). Although not necessary for the ECU to function, I wanted to get the oil pressure into the ECU. Rather than add a new oil pressure sensor, I decided to piggy back of the factory sensor by splitting the signal. The dash gauge already has a voltage divider, so I simply grabbed the voltage signal and sent that to the ECU. I then calibrated the voltage values against what I was seeing in the dash – and done!

    Warning Light

Since I was in that area already (oil pressure sensor), I decided to repurpose the oil pressure switch (the "oh ****" oil pressure light). When this goes to ground, the light turns on (if the dash is "on"). So I simply configured a half-bridge in the ECU to go to ground when there is a "warning" in the ECU. Effectively, I turned the oil pressure light into a general purpose "check engine" light. The light will turn on if I get knock, air temps are too high, fuel pressure is unbalanced, etc.. Since I now have oil pressure in the ECU, then obviously low pressure will also cause the light to turn on.

If anyone is curious, these are the two connectors you need for the oil pressure sensors:

    TE 180905
    TE 180916

    v3 Trumpet Top Plate

I received the second CNC top plate for bank 1 (which has the air temp sensor). I'm hoping this is the "final" version. I'm pretty happy with it. I think it looks cool, it reminds me of the BBLM setup, and it's functional. It's not technically the "best" way if function is your top concern (particularly around the trumpet bell-mouth), but it's my sweet spot for balancing form, function, and homage to the era.
