    Well, since school is out for the summer, kids are egging neighbors cars. Its a 93 Toyota Tacoma, pretty beaten up. Is it legal to have a camera up and ready. I don't have a great camera. Its probably a 90s video camcorder, not a fancy house mounted. I want to know if its okay to put it up on the window recording over night. I want to do this so if they hit my sisters car or do it again, I can plan some revenge or give it to my neighbors.

    Camera location: Window sill. Plugged in to keep charged over night. It's got the little Mini VCR type thing, and I can watch it the next day.

    Also: I'm not sure of time it's happening, I'm guessing early morning. How great will the camera perform at night.

    I'm not a lawyer, but AFAIK, there's no expectation of privacy in a public place, so any evidence you get that way is fair game.

    You might try one of the "game trail"-type cameras out there. A motion sensor tells it to snap a photo or start shooting video. You can hide it near the area that a crime is likely to take place. I've seen them at Wal Mart. I'm sure places like Gander Mountain and Cabela's would have better versions.

    I didn't set up the camera tonight, but if it happens in the morning, I will set them up tomorrow night. I don't really want to spend money, I just wanted to know if I could use that as evidence/blackmail.

    I actually got egged while driving my old Nova hotrod 15-16 years ago by an oncoming car. I guess they weren't expecting a full Dukes of Hazzard 35mph 180 deg turn complete with white smoke pouring off the back tires. Took me all of a half block to catch the Aerostar van! This was before cell phones, so I had to take their plate down and went to the local po-po substation. Cops called the parents, who were up and waiting when the punks came home. They all then came to the station. Wound up getting $750 in exchange for not pressing charges to fix the damage on my hood. (which I was going to change to fiberglass anyway ;)) Short story, I HATE EGGERS!!!!!!!

    Had my truck egged during the summer of 2004 I believe. I was pretty pissed.

    I remember a story a friend told me from junior high. Some kid had been throwing **** at cars for a few weeks. This one day he threw an egg through a guys sunroof. The guy followed the bus to the school and walked on board. Of course the kid go in trouble. As no one was allowed off the bus until the culprit came forth.

    Could be worse...

    I remember hearing stories in high school about a group of friends that would always prank each other's cars. Their cars got covered with peanut butter, eggs, cheese, soda..jsut about anything really. Luckily they only did it to each other's cars.

    Years ago someone used shaving cream to spray a big penis on the door of my dad's car. Just one of those random pranks, except the shaving cream bleached the paint! He had to drive around like Damone for a week until he could get it fixed.
