Having read about a 'fix' for slow - or non moving - electric windows on Ferraris, invented by a chap called Frazer Smith, in the Ferrari News (Owners) Magazine Jun 07, I decided that I would contact him to see if his invention would work on my 400GT. He turned out to be an extremely helpful and polite chap, who, having never even laid eyes on a 400 before, invited me to bring my car to him and to see if the the thing would work on my car. So, I drove to meet him, with my 8yo son in the car; we nearly didn't make it as an idiot woman in the outside lane changed her mind and pulled into my lane at the last second in front of me. An emergency stop and a violent avoiding action turn to the right avoided a collision, but I hit the kerb and subsequently realised I had damaged the nearside front wheel rim. Nothing too serious though.

Eventually we made it to Frazer's place and he welcomed us in. Frazer has a red 348, a Triumph Dolomite Sprint with a twist and an enviable collection of radio controlled cars and aeroplanes, as well as a pair of very entertaining cats. He soon had my son sat in front of the 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' whilst we got to work on the car; we dismantelled the nearside door first and he tested to see that his gadget would work - it did! The window, that would not go up on it's own power, fair shot up! So he set about fitting it - no bodge job here - it was all done, to my intense satisafction, to a very high standard and worked first time; he then achieved the same on the offside. Even more impressively, he repaired damage that some hamfisted berk had previously done to the bottom of both door cards, and then - to top things off - he also repaired my damaged electric mirror controller! Having discovered it didn't work, we took it apart and he took the controller for inspection; he discovered the PCB was badly daamged but proceeded to effect a very neat and effective repair to it. For all this he only asked £80 for the 2 gadgets. I naturally paid him something for his time too.

I wholeheartedly recommend Frazer to you if you wish to have your Ferrari windows sorted; he has a website -http://www.btinternet.com/~frazer.smith1/ferrariwindow/index.html - where you can read about his invention. I believe that it has a lot more applications than those commented on - as my expereience shows. He couldn't be more helpful and is an absolute gem in this world of 'the bottom line'.

    Keeping The Faith,

    Ray.
