I unhooked the rear 6x9s to give an even 4 ohm load front and rear and used a CD and had the exact same effect, after about 10 minutes of driving the unit started noticeably distorting badly. What is so weird is the reason I bought this unit is that it kicks ass in my other car with very little distortion and what seems enough power to even satisfy me an ex rock drummer!!! Scott I hope you are listening in.... :) Maybe I should get one of those gauge that plug into you lighter that show what power your system is putting that pilots use. Would lack of power from the alternator or batter cause this???

I also have a 8 amp fuse in between the rear defroster fuse and the head unit, since the power has to pass across such a small piece of metal, could that starve the unit?

Hi Robert, I think your car wants to come to La Jolla.... I Believe the deck is overheating... After disconnecting the 6x9's and the time that it takes for the deck to start distorting didnt change at all then there is either a wiring issue possibly with the bass blockers or the amp in the deck is bad.... I would pull out the deck as it is distorting and see how hot the heatsink is.... Then if it is hot enough to burn you then try it again with the deck out.... Good luck!
