I've now been the owner of my 2005 575M for 2 months now. I've read and re-read the owners manual countless times and still can't figure-out the following:

    1) After driving the car and turning it off (after parking, for example), I frequently get locked-in and can't open the door without using the key fob to do a double-chirp and unlock all doors. Goofy thing is, I've noticed that I have about 5 seconds after shutting off the car to open the door, otherwise I'm locked-in and I have to use the fob. Gremlin or the way it's supposed to function?

    2) When the engine is running, the interior button used to open the trunk doesn't function. Gremlin or the way it's supposed to be?

    3) While in the car, does the driver's door automatically lock after starting? Is the passenger's door only locked manually when driving? Gremlin or the way it's supposed to be?

For the life of me, no dealer (forget the owner's manual!) has been able to provide me with a clear, logical, and concise explanation of the the fob works.

    1. The 575 has an "auto arm" feature, designed to keep your car from being started without using the fob the disarm it. You should have a separate security system manual which explains all this.
Generally the auto arming default is that the system becomes immobilized (cannot start) 120 seconds after the key was turned off and will auto lock within a further 180 seconds.

The car will also revert to immobilized condition 120 seconds after it was disarmed with the fob but not started.
If the car is a Belgian Market car the auto arming function may happen within 10 seconds.

    2. The trunk button cannot be activated with the car running.

    3. Auto door locking is also a function of the security system

    What 410SA said is correct.

One of the more embarassing things about the immobolized condition, is the engine will crank but not start. So what generally happens to me is this -- there is a group of folks admiring your car, you get in, crank the ignition and car will not start. That pleases skeptics to no end.

At least on the 360 when you turn the key in the immobilized condition there is simply no power, and the engine does not crank.

Here's a tip I learned from another fchatter, if you turn the key to the first position, then press the key fob the car will disarm and there will be no beep-beep.

You shouldn't be getting locked in.

FWIW, if you are inside the car and it is immobilized (say, after getting gas), rather than chiping the alarm while you are in the car, you can put the key in, turn to ignition position 1, and then press the button. Same effect, but no beeping.
