Is it possible to transfer the songs from iTunes onto a SD card and then take the SD card and put it into another non-Apple portable music device. Will the songs play?

Obviously, not such an elementary question it seems.....

The short answer is "I believe so", but you've got to do some fancy footwork as it's not "officially" supported. You've probably tried the "export" option in iTunes, and realized it only exports "references" - You need a "helper" app to get the music out.

    Some helpful info here:

Once you've got it out of the library onto your HD there are plenty of apps that will convert it to whatever your other device needs and you can simply copy onto your mounted SIM card.

Good luck, and please report back!

    Cheers,
    Ian

If your trying to put it onto your phone this is what i do
1.) Put my micro SD card into adapter and into card reader
2.) Open iTunes to the songs you want
3.) Open "My Computer" and find the removeable drive that is your memory card
4.) Double-click and open your card
5.) Now simply drag and drop the songs from iTunes into the screen w/ your memory card

P.S. Might not work the same as i have a verizon phone that put a specific "My Music" folder onto the card

You would have to convert them to an MP3 format, Apple uses a MP4 as a standard for it's software.
