Eliminate Your Blind Spot Forever.

Good advice! I have my mirrors adjusted this way and always look over my shoulder. My first car was an old Jag without door mirrors so I quickly got into the habit of trusting my eyes not my mirrors.

Now, if I can only get people to stop smashing into the back of my car which has happened twice in the last 6 months...

Get someone to stand behind your car, maybe 20 feet behind. First, have them stand where you can see half of their body on the left hand side of the rear-view mirror. Then adjust the left outside mirror where you can see the other half of their body. Do the same for the right side.

This is exactly what I was going to post. It is weird at first but works very well once you get used to it.

 

The most difficult part for me at first was when I backed into a space (I think that you should back a car into a space for safety reasons). Since the mirrors were further out it was a bit tricky at first due to your perception of where you are between the lines. After a bit of practice, this problem vanishes.

I have been trying to pass this message onto family & friends & coworkers without success.

Much like your tilted mirrors, if you ever put one of those little buggers on you'll never go back.

 

I wasn't picking up what you guys were putting down, so I paid attention today and realized I already have my mirrors set up like this.

Of course, it doesn't hurt that the mirrors on my truck are the size of large serving platters.

 

Definitely took a bit of acclimation but, wow, it really does work! Tried it out today and was amazed.

 

OK Uro, I set the F-150 this way today to give it a shot. So far so good. My only concern is getting used to backing down my driveway. I have been pretty comfortable watching the edge of the truck and the edge of the drive in the side mirror. Maybe if I lean my head against the side window it will be the same. By the way, for me, the mirrors needed to be adjusted all the way out to set them up as recommended.
