What would it take to convert a porker 1900-lb US Elise to near Euro spec 1600lbs or less? I know my dad won't buy an Elise because we just got a house, but I was curious. And I really want an Elise... :(

Ripping parts and or content off the Elise is not going to help your father buy one or convince him is it? Didnt think so. Consider a 1900 pound car a porker huh? Interesting......

My neighbor has an Elise and loves it the way it is. He says it drives great and he wouldn't change a thing. I'd save my money.

The Euro Elise I have is an early series II and weighs 1575LB. The later Euro Series II, the 111S already has a weight of 1775LB. The US spec 111R weighs 1975LB.

However, with each weight increase, the HP als went up, so that the power to weight ratio barely changed. I don't think you have to strip anything from the US Elise.

How roomy is an Elise inside? Like a 308?
I just saw where there is also a 2+2 Elise in the works. Great car.
    thanks

Well, I was just talking to a British Elise driver whose car weighs 1600 pounds. He said many of the European Elise drivers consider the US Elise a 'lard'. :D I think that fenderless model weighs like 1300 pounds!

I already told yall, he isn't going to buy one and it's probably not a very practical car. I was just wondering where that 300 pounds came from. Me=curious about it.

I'm 6'2" and 210LB and I fit just fine. Getting in and out with the roof on is not a pretty sight. You do need narrow shoes though. Or drive without shoes.

I got a ride in one a couple months back and it is one of the coolest cars I have ever been in. It is fast, has pick up, and the girls liked it. It is a little hard even for a tenager to get in and out of the roof was off so I'm sure that makes it almost impossible. The guy driving drove with no shoes he said that he usual drives with racing shoes bacause the peadals are so close. I don't think that the market will hold the pice that they are at for much longer so in another year or so they will be down and more resonable.
