I'm really sick of people getting put down on this forum because they don't own a Ferrari (yet!), and this last post I read really set me off. I'm sure that no one on this forum started out with a Ferrari as their first car- if not maybe one or two. We all have to start somewhere in order to get somewhere. Anyways, it's really terrible to see people get put down by Ferrari owners for not owning this brand of car. Whenever someone does that on this forum, it leaves a big stain on the reputation of all Ferrari owners. In summary, I think there should be a punishment for this kind of ridiculous behavior, especially considering people are tempobanned for much sillier things these days.

Yes there is a certain amount of elitism on this forum... it annoys me as well.

But you should just shrug it off as the cool down-to-earth people ( many of them Ferrari owners) are the majority !

It's just a shot below the belt. It seems petty to resort to that IMO.

    Here is an interesting quote:

"I struggle with my ego every day, all day long. There's no break from that. Every day there's some sort of revelation about how I'm misinterpreting something because I'm thinking of myself as the center of the universe. Once you realize everybody in your group has that problem, it becomes easier. "

When anyone thinks their material possessions are status symbols, they are only showing what shallow people they are.

Small minds need to put on a big show!

That particular post doesn't seem elitist to me in the least.

What Rivee is asking is why one would lob a grenade into this site in a manner similar to shouting anti-Catholic rhetoric in a Catholic church or maybe shouting Auburn slogans at a Univ of Alabama football rally.

I'm one of the more conspicuous non-owners here and except for some good natured ribbing on the subject there are no put-downs.

+1 I completely agree. Yes elitism is to a certian extent a problem on the boards, but I don't think this was about whether or not he owned an F car or not. The fact is there are certian people here, and on every forum, that exist soley for the purpose of pissing people off. I'm not naming names, but I can name 3 off the top of my head that really get to me on here, and I have to constantly step away from my monitor and think before I reply to a post. This is a Ferrari FAN forum. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but if you're here just to talk down on F cars, their owners, or the Scuderia, this isn't the website for you. I'm not sure about this particular instance, but it seems to me that this guy was here to ruffle feathers. The last line of his reply wasn't really nessicary, but I'm sure he just let his temper get the better of him.

Careful of the broad brush. Yes, I own and enjoy my Ferrari. I earned it. There are a couple of serious young enthusiast non-owners in my area who have contacted me. I have given a Sunday morning to them in good weather. I have taken them for a ride, let them take pictures, and have let them drive it. They and I seem to enjoy that. They simply aid and abet my automotive passion.

I would search to back up my point a little bit here, but my wireless mouse has run out of battery and is on the charger now so I have limited accessibility :p. In fact, someone has made a similar comment to me, because, as you might have noticed, my profile says I drive a 350Z. While this is true, here is a picture of the Z in the garage at home to provide some context: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/iceburns288/IMG_1019small.jpg

On a related note, another thing that got me about that thread was the intolerability of some people of different opinions. I know it's far from all members that use the Racing and Tracking subforum that are guilty of it, but it's the few sour apples that really stick out to me. I am obviously a HUGE Ferrari fan and I even worked for Daniel Pass for a short while, but I don't believe Ferrari is always in the right. I mean, this is the company that made the 612 after all... (just jokes!). Not a big problem, just something that irritated me and I have no mouse to use so I don't really have anything else I can do on my computer :p.

Napolis has the coolest car on this forum (the "converted" Enzo thingy) and look at how down-to-earth he is :) Two thumbs up.
