Um, yeah. Mods cleaned it up, had some remarkably bad taste to it. Now there's "Nothing to see here. Move along..." Dave
I've read Keith Moons biography. Dear Boy. He had a white 246. Begged the dealer to sell him it in Surrey in '72 or '73. Obv they were in demand then.. He saw it and wanted it like a spoilt child. Obtained for a premium. Begged the dealer.Moon thought it was cool to have no regard for your own possessions. Almost vulgar in fact. Two local imbeciles (Moons pad was open for anyone it seems for booze ups etc) asked to have a go of the 246. In exchange for a go on their crappy bike. End result. Dino totalled by these pissed scumbags. Apparantly he cared not one jot. Oh well, one of the lucky dudes to get behind the wheel of one the most beautifull cars ever built. Would love to see a pic of the bella machina!
KM had a reputation for trashing hotel rooms and trashing cars. During my search for a pic of the Moon Dino I came accross a story about Cher. Apparently she had a turquoise Dino..does anybody know about this ??
i was contacted by someone last week asking about dino's. he told me he saw cher quite frequently driving a light blue dino in la back in the early 70's and it started his liking for them. not a confirmation, but at least it has to be mor ethan a coincidence.
not topic specific, but the dino i own (s/n 08468) was purchased new from hollywood sports cars by "a major fashion designer". the car is still original and is oro chiaro metallizzato with tan daytona interior. i have been trying to figure out for some time who the "major fashion designer" was/is. how many light gold colored dino were ther running around hollywood in the mid 70's? any help would be appreciated.
How long is the typical time out? You all are really slumming here, citing the likes of Elton John, Cher, Keith Moon. My 400A was owned by GEORGE HAMILTON. What a pairing, a car and an actor nobody wants. I know, I know, it's a Dino thread.
What's funny is that your car probably has a tan leather interior, while George has a tan leather exterior.
http://www.motorbase.com/auction/by-id/913669208/ I suggest your friend may be mistaken - Christies had an Elton John Auction including 3 of his Ferraris out of 20 cars, The full list is at the link.
Yeah, same list that yasmin posted. this person has only known him for a year, so a few years after he sold off those cars - friend isn't a car guy either so I doubt he would have brought it up.
Last year I saw a Dino for sale that was once owned by Barbara Streisand. Seems there were many celbrities who owned Dinos, should we start a new thread collecting them?
there is very strong reason to believe that the "streisand" car was never oqned by streisand an that someone was creative in selling the story when it was advertsied in hemmings as a streisand owned car.
My ex-manager called me a few years back and said that he had a great opportunity to buy a car that was formerly owned by financier Warren Buffet...he wanted to know if the "provenance" would make it worth something! It was an early 90's Lincoln Town Car with about 30,000 miles on the clock and about 10 years old. I kid you not at all.
