Hamilton is obviously better than Bottas but since he locked down the WDC they are probably treating them on equal footing or maybe even supporting Bottas more. Red Bull used to do this during the Seb years so Webber could pick up a couple wins at the end of the year as a thank you after things were locked up
Bottas still had the chance to get second in the WDC...So why not helping him once Lewis crossed the finish line of the championship? Making the result look even better for Mercedes... First securing the WCC, second the WDC and then trying to bring home the second car in second place...at least this is what I would do.
Botas was driving a car that was suited for Rosberg's driving style. Lets see what happens in 2018. I have a feeling that Botas will be better than Elton and then the drama within the team will restart.
Some of the drama was press instigated, it may be Mercedes can get ahead of the media sharks this time. Also no guarantee that Mercedes will be in a two driver WDC battle next year either. Go Ferrari!
