How do you use the Emergency brake on the 348. How does it work?

It's not so much a matter of "how does it work" but more "if it does work". The thing is a bit temperamental.

To engage: pull up the lever (obviously). Once engaged the lever will fall back down to the floor.
To disengage: pull up the lever some more, press in the button and, while still pressing the button lower the lever to the floor. You may need to attempt this more than once.

Often the "Park" light will stay lit even if the emergency brake is disengaged: if so there is an issue with the sensor located at the lever ratchet. Easy to fix but you'll need to remove the emergency lever cover to get to it.

If the light stays on or if there is a problem setting or releasing the brake 99% of the time it s an adjustment issue. They did not come adjusted correctly from the factory and many have not been properly set to this day. Additionally if the light stays on 99% of the time the brake is indeed still set. It may not be holding the car, but to some degree the brake is still set.
There is a process to correctly adjust the shoes and cables and most just adjust the cables.
