My dad's car brokedown in Nebraska. The alternater belt broke. Can the air conditioner belt be used in it's place?

    More information could be helpful...
    Sorry about your dad.
But try the AC belt. Worst thing that could happen you just loose the AC. The best thing that could happen is that it would work!
    All cars are diffrent however.

not sure those are the same diameter...
Have Ricambi next-day the belt to you. You'll be down a day but you'll do it right...

OOOps - my fault - I was assuming a 355 for some reason - sheesh!

I suppose you've looked in the toolkit in the car to see if it has a alternator belt (yes stupid question but I had to ask). on a more practical note go to a local parts store and pick out a belt with a similar profile and length, hopefully its that same as here where all the belts are on a display on a rack

Yes, get you dad to check the toolkit. If complete it includes an alt belt.

Go buy a nylon stocking and tie it as tight as you can on the pulley. The knot will be small enough to pass over the pulley but it should get you some miles until you can get a new belt.

OK, now it gets tricky if you are in the middle of nowhere and there are no stores around. You wave down a young lady in her sports car and say you want her to take off her stockings...
    Hmmm.
By the way, how many miles on can you go on one pair of stockings ?
