I have three of the BeatIts and they are great. I tried to buy more, but they have been unavailable for the last year. The NOCOs seem comparable so I bought a couple of those. The one thing I preferred with the BeatIt was that the cables could be disconnected from the jump battery and used as a voltmeter, but the size, price, capabilities with the NOCO are just as good. Picture of my BeatIt cables on my eight year old factory battery in my 2014 458 Spider. I replaced it in December when it started to fail.
If it was for Ferrari dealers to make a little extra, don't you think it would be world wide? Also, you may want to consider the fact that most have their batteries changed under warranty. And as was said, it looks like the paragraph was removed later on. Like I clearly stated, it was NOT a jab at the US, so why do you act as if it was? But since you take it down that road, let's just take note of the fact that, like Slim pointed out, the US is in the forefront of what can only be considered ridiculous civil suits. And no, in many places outside the US, you cannot just sue willy nilly left and right, just because you did something stupid and there wasn't a big enough warning label on the thing. I mean, where else in the world do you see giant billboards along the highway advertising for ambulance chasers and other shysters? Nowhere and there's a reason for that.
Again, you are confusing Lithium Ion batteries with Lithium Ferro Phosphate batteries. They are very different and so is the safety associated with them. You can pound a nail though the latter, and it will not catch on fire, nor will it do so if overcharged or if it sees a spike in voltage. Here's a little article that deals with the differences. https://blog.epectec.com/lithium-iron-phosphate-vs-lithium-ion-differences-and-advantages I am well aware that there are many cases of Lithium Ion and Lithium Polymer cells catching on fire, but find me examples of LiFe4Po cells doing it. They are not out there because they don't, A wet lead acid or AGM battery would be more likely to blow up in a big hydrogen fireball than a Lithium Ferro battery has of catching fire. And when you combine the safety of the Li-Fe cell with a complete voltage regulation system, then you are about as safe as you can be. Furthermore, and the article also deals a bit with that, another advantage of the Li-Fe battery is that unlike the others, it can in fact deal with heat etc.
Didn’t say it was a jab at US and don’t even care if it was, don’t know why you’re getting so defensive just because I disagreed with what you said using common sense. But if you want to get cute which obviously you do….your reasoning of America being the only place where people get sued and america is the only place with “clowns” kinda makes you sound like the clown….
You are correct, I am not familiar with Lithium Ferro Phosphate batteries. Thank you for the information, it is definitely comforting. I just still have to justify the expense since weight saving is not the priority for my car. If I was, then I'd be on a diet as well.
They are obviously more expensive that an AGM, but here's the thing. Try and price a booster, a new AGM as they do need somewhat regular replacement in these cars, as well as shipping for each. Sure there is a difference, but it starts to be less daunting. I don't care even the slightest abouf the weight savings, but I do love the fact that I never have to worry. The only time I use a charger is during the summer when the car is in storage. During the winter, the car not only never charged, it lives outside most of the time. So there's the myth about cold debunked. All in all it is maybe double the price of a general purpose AGM battery and a booster. Looking at what we spend on fuel, tyres, insurance etc. in my view, it's a bargain for that kind of hassle-free Ferrari ownership. And lastly, believe it or not, your top will operate smoother and better too, and can be raised or lowered with the car shut off. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I followed the instructions in this video and brought my dead Porto back to life (using NOCO GBX155) It’s satisfying to solve a dead battery on your own vs waiting for dealer or tow truck
No fire hazard? Tell that to VW. https://www.autonews.com/retail/burnt-out-ship-carrying-4000-vws-porsches-audis-bentleys-and-lamborghinis-sinks-rough-seas
If you are referring to the Antigravity battery, so no. VW uses Li-Ion batteries while AG uses LiFe4Po, which has been mentioned several times. Don't criticise things just because you don't understand them. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Well I made a decision because every time my Cali was parked without the battery tender for more than 3 hours, she would throw weird codes and such. So I bought a new Battery the Braille B10049 - Endurance AGM battery and also an Amazing Portable Car Jump Starter 1500A. The Jump starter should be fine with the new battery. I choose this jump starter because I realized it can be housed inside the center console. So I did some rearranging and built a lil set up so the center console houses my iPod, my ******* Apple car play device, the jump start and then a belkin wireless phone charger. I figured its cold in the northeast so time to fabricate. I had some foam sheets laying around and an exact knife and did my lil arts and craft project. I think it came out nice. Now I can plop my phone inside the arm rest and have it charge while using apple car play, and if need I have the jump start easily accessible. Also it simply lifts out easily if need be and there was no need for wiring since all the electrical and USB ports are inside. I'll show some pics so you can get the idea. It was an easy and fairly cheap Mod that anyone can do. Yes it fills up the center console, but there is still room for the phone on top and it doesn't slide around because of the magnetic belkin charger.
