It pays to perform searches and read old Fchat post. While killing time I was sitting reading old Fchat post when I came across someone asking what function a cable did under the dash? Its an emergency release for the hood? THe thread went on to say there's another one behind the drivers seat for the engine? Over the past two years I have climbed under, over and through this car and I never noticed these cables? So I had to go out and see. Sure enough, tucked away under the dash is the cable for the hood and if you move the safety belt to the side, "shazzam" the one for the engine is right there too. IT also shows the need to clean behind the shoulder harness! lol IT pays to read old post!

I used those cable loops for two years until I discovered the proper levers. Course when I bought my car I spend 30 minutes trying to find a place to put gas in. Comes from a lifetime of American cars.

That is hilarious. The first time I tried to put gas in my GTSi, I pulled into a 7-11 screwed around for about 15 mins, I had the front open and engine comp open, I felt like such a fool. Finally I just drove off thinking I would ask someone, then reflecting on the moronic nature of my actions I was looking at my keys and wondered what the little keys were for. Went out and checked and (revelation), a gas cap.

I will admit to being an old Pcar driver.

I still haven't found the front E release, I guess it is up under the dash somewhere, but every time I go to look, my neck muscles start protesting.

I quit smoking a long time ago, but I bet it took me 2-3 years to figure out how the lighter worked, I always though something was missing, until I happened to look down in there and saw the heat coil at the bottom.

I had convinced my wife that the right hand window cover, opposite the gas window, was a secret compartment you could hide things in!

    Moral of the story:

Looking cool takes practice, looking like a dork comes easily, at least for me. :)

When I first got mine, the PO took me around the car and showed me a few things. One of which was where to put in the gas. If he had not done that, I could see myself sitting at the pumps scratching my head with an empty tank. You have to admit, it is well hidden! Joe
