Does anybody know or have a manual to hand to advise how to open the trunk when the key and internal switch don't work :( there's no motor sound or anything as usual and my manual is in the trunk so I can't read up to find out how to get round it!

Perhaps if you cycle the top which opens the trunk it will reset and clear the problem.
You can also pause the opening and try to reach in for your manuals

Hi, thanks for the reply, I did try that, unfortunately the top won't open in my garage as the sensors pickup the wall at the side, it's a bit late to drive it outside to do it (don't want to offend the Neighbours!) so will have to wait until morning :)

    Mark,

I found it. There is a key hole under the lip of the compartment to the right of the license plate lights. I have attached a picture of mine. Take good care and let me know if it works for you.

    All the best,

    Chad

These great cars have some interesting quirks at first but they do seem to settle in after a bit of use. For a few weeks, my fuel cover door would not open for the first several tries at the station. Kind of embarrassing :) It's all a learning experience and when I wonder why I bought the California, all I have to do is to take it out, put the top down and listen to some 60's music. The other day, it was about 21 C outside and the radio had a program called "Breakfast with the Beatles." I had the top down, listening to Sgt. Pepper with the wind and a smile. It doesn't get much better...

Chad- Sounds like fun to me. Have never even seen a California. 21 deg C is 69.8 deg F, a very nice day. 26 deg F here today (-3.33 deg C) in the morning, but sun was out so still a nice day. Gets cold here, but dry as a bone. Can drive a Ferrari 12 months a year.

You're a lucky guy. The weather here is warm one day then cold and rainy the next, truly unpredictable. I'll post some pictures of the California in the wild the next time I take it out. You should see Mark's website (posted above), a remarkable collection of wonderful photos.

Emergency trunk release is accessed throught the rear seat backs.

Only problem is that you might not be able to unlatch the seat backs with the newer cali's.
They have now put a plate there.
