I have been in business for almost 25 years now and I have a lot of employees with lots of service. They have all the good bene's and I was wondering if any of you or your companies give an award, watch, money or something for 5,10 15 20, years of service. I'm looking for ideas.

People just don't feel that way I don't think anymore. I try to pay my employees as much as I can and still stay competitive. They after all are the company and I just run and own it. Loyalty is not there anymore from employer or employee. I just want to do the right thing. Some people may appreciate it and others don't. I want to recognise them because I think they deserve it. It is a jungle out there and it's tough to stay going strong. I have been lucky over the years.

How many employees do you have? I know Pepsi Bottling Group and Siemens have things like that, but they're HUGE companies.

Robert you should do something if it is what you want to do. Though, I've heard about employees make rude comments when they receive something they don't feel is worthy of there employment time.

    For example:

"Great, I worked 20 years and all I got was this (watch, cuff links, xxxxxx)"

So unless you think it is a generous gift it might backfire.........

With 85+ Employees, you might want to start a "Silver Eagle" club where names go on a plaque in the main reception area of your office for 10 years of service.

Gold Eagles for 20yrs and $1000 donation to the charity of their choice

Something where they receive recognition and people see it daily.

At 25 yrs you might want to do a vacation for 2.

    Just thinking out loud.........

I know this guy that works during summers at the Ritz Carlton / JW Marriott in Orlando and they pay double on your birthday. Since he works part time, they didn't schedule him to work that day so he got screwed, haha. It is a good idea though to give employees the day off and double pay, but maybe for people with a certain amount of years under their belt.

I feel unappreciated because my post was not recognized, yet... everybody else's *sniff* was.

I put years of effort into that wonderful suggestion.

    _____

Actually - My Mom got a "plaque" like the one I referred to some years ago - out of all the awards we waxes have received- it's our sentimental favorite.

Of course, she got a proper bonus with it.

I know what you mean. I would like to have something to hold onto (or put on the wall in this case) than just money. Unless we're talking a lot of money, which usually has a plaque that goes with it.

Think of it like a gift you give someone. Giving money alone isn't the best gift (think Seinfeld).
