Finished two SOLID days of detailing the car... Drove the Ferrari many fun miles today... Had a great tenderloin steak for dinner... And the finale...
MAN! That looks like it was HORRIBLY hard to take!! DL edit.. Did you ever contact Peter (in London)?
Where is the cup protector/mat thingy (what they fnck are they called ... tea coaster or something (?)) ... shame on you Pete
UK prices? Are you NUTS???? Anyone with half a brain would have to be smoking something else to pay those prices. As for me, friends and gifts And please, my friend, don't start with that EMS rubbish. It is nothing but pure marketing rhetoric.
i have it back... for the moment anyway. But hey, who knows what today's driving fun could bring. The day is still young
First of all NO, I am quite sane. Second of all, BOTH sides of my brain were merely ATTEMPTING to help out a fellow enthusiast with a good tip (which if you had taken the time to investigate FIRST, you'd realize that even your generous friends could save some money with... since they are buying for 2) Third, My family has been in the tobacco business for 75 years. I know a good cigar from a bad one. You're welcome. DL
Steven, we're gonna have to get together one of these days. I'll be coming up to the north country sometime over the Summer or Fall to see my daughter. So save a tenderloin for me, will ya? Take care, DrTax
DL And Dr. Tax, DL: First, no offence meant, just that EMS/UK/Canadian/Brazil prices are insane. There are many good sources i have been told with very good prices. In fact a leading UK dealer also has digs setup elsewhere to avoid the UK tax structure fopr his overseas clients i have been told. Agreed there is good and bad tobac, yet no need to pay EMS prices for it as the addional $$$ DOES NOT go to the tobac, but to TAXES pure and simple. Dr. Tax: Sure, e-mail me when you are in the area. i know of this butcher that makes these filet steaks for me...
Tell you what....you bring one of your cigars, I'll switch you for one of mine. I'll get the scotch (trust me, you WON"T argue with me on that one) and you get the steaks. Meet me in St Louis!! DL
Can I come? You guys can keep your old smelly cigars. But steaks and scotch. Man, life is berry, berry good.
Cafe Do Ponto (Brazilian beans) not really available in the USA... so make nice nice with those sexy young ladies in Brazil
I need to hurry up and get a decent sized humidor so I can keep more than a few sticks around. I would never try and bring those evil isom things into the states but I'm curious does Mr. Lloyd have a website?
I also make sure that I bring back some Brazilian espresso beans whenever I´m there. Do Ponto is not a bad choice. BTW: You don´t need to source your cigars in Cuba neither. There are some pretty good options available in Brazil, some of them can be spotted on the pics to follow ...
Best deal and VERY well made http://www.avallohumidors.com/ DO NOT let the low price fool you, Avallo makes a GREAT humi
But the tax structure in Brazil is HORRIBLE and even "duty free" is still WAY out of line (IMHO) with current proper pricing.
A couple comments: first, the Robusto is probably the tastiest of the Cohiba bunch in my estimation; the Esplendido can be very good, but its too mild for my taste. Second, there is a huge difference in quality between cut-rate off shore suppliers whose stocks may be languishing under improper conditions, and stocks which have, from inception, been properly maintained. It is, to me, worth the difference in price when i do smoke the occasional cigar. Third, the amount of brazen counterfeiting is unbelievable. Do not assume what you are smoking is authentic. I did work for the Gov't of Cuba for a while-in a case involving Cohiba trademarks- and i have had the opportunity to sample some that are "from the horse's mouth." Finally, i would be careful about what is posted concerning anybody involved in shipping in to the States. As some of you may have seen, a lawyer recently got a 3 year prison sentence as a result of being caught with a little over 1 thousand cigars in his possession. Apparently, he had a pretty good side business going, but what you may consider "personal stash" is probably still sufficient to get you, or your supplier, into big doo-doo. Other than that, enjoy...
)@#&$(*@#&$ GET THAT COFFEE AND KILLERSTICK OFF THE F-CAR!!! Ahhh, man bring that down to Houston so I can give it a proper detailing and shield it from folks like you
