Went to ny show yesterday which is back on schedule for 1st time since 2019 pre covid. Expected huge crowds and lots debuts. Maybe even Porsche Spyder rs that's been rumored for so long.

Nope. No crowds, debuts, spyders, or much of anything. Really disappointing and surprising since should have been pent up demand.

So is this the end of big car shows as we knew it? Would be sad for my grandkids if so

I went to the one here in Houston back in Jan. It was depressing. Small crowd and not many brands showed up. It was even co-hosted with the boat show to fill the whole bldg.

Yeah my friend and I decided to skip it, only thing I would want to see is the 2024 dark horse, and that will be at fords at Carlisle in just 2 months, and be a lot more accessible to inspect in person.

Plus, it would make a long and expensive day to really just get some White Castle on the way home lol

L.A. Auto Show was pathetic. No BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, Jaguar, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, (Ferrari left long ago), etc...

Porsche was still there, but I wonder how long that will last.

If you like Hondas, Kias, Hyundais and Fords, it was right up your alley.

I’ve been skipping these for the last 15 years. Usually it’s easier to just visit the 2-3 dealerships for cars on my list.

I can narrow things down fast online. The last LÁ auto show I attended eagerly was for the Lotus Elise launch back in 2005.

I remember going with my Dad when I was a kid and they had just about every make there. Remember coming home with bags of brochures, those were the good old days.

I also stopped going to the Chicago Auto Show. I see more exciting cars driving around than i did there. Not worth the 45mns drive and hassle.

THE best show in the world was Geneva, with ALL the big and small sportscar, supercar manufacturers but it is dead now, Covid killed it but also the organisers were getting too expensive -Switzerland is REALLY expensive- and manufacturers had enough PLUS they would rather do their own event now with invited targeted potential clients.

    Sad.

I went to the GVA show starting at 13 years old -here a photo in 77 or 78 with a Dome Japanese showcar- it was fabulous, Monteverdi, Iso, Sbarro, all Modenese brands...in recent years they had Koenisgegg (the top dog) and Pagani, Bugatti and others....

I went to the NY auto show in Javitts in spring 1990 meh....
