All, the bulkhead heat shield was damaged in a previous engine out. Now that I have the engine out again, I want to replace it. 1980 GTBi. Early car. 1) anyone know where I can source a factory replacement and what I should expect it to cost? 2) should I just have a new piece fabricated? 3) any other ideas? I read through some old threads, but no great answers. looking for thoughts on the subject. Thanks Image Unavailable, Please Login
I would speak to someone who breaks cars. If you were on the UK, it would be Eurospares but there will be an equivalent in the US. It's not an obvious bit that is required so they may have one.

Is that how you have yours when the engine is in? You don’t worry the metal piece is part of the heat shield value?

It’s going to get really toasty in the car without it just have one made you got the Template so no big deal, then get some heat insulation from you big box store and install it you got the room no also a noise reduction
Agreed, I did try to find one, and ferrparts had one in their bone yard. However, it was only marginally better than the one I have so wasn’t worth it. Off to the fab shop for replicating and replacement. Engine is out, so have to take care of these things while the opportunity presents itself. Good advice, Thanks
