Since the F355 is in for a major, I thought I might take advantage of the engine being out to possibly paint the plenum covers and air boxes red. I know guys have done this before, but should they be powder coated or will high temperature paint from a rattle can be sufficient?

One is plastic and the other is metal so you should use the appropriate paint. My question is, why? all the ones that ive seen done are horrible. When ive been to shows, whenever anyone sees one they laugh and ask, whos the owner? Leave it black.

I can appreciate wanting to leave it original Gerry, but little touches here and there (as long as they're done well) make our cars our own. H

I think adding some accents, powder coating stuff and some red doesn't hurt and really highlights parts of a Ferrari Engine.

The original 355 engine compartment I find rather dull so I dismantled everything and gave it a cosmetic overhaul. I even used some hydrodipping and did my calipers also.

So far, nothing but unsollicited compliments from everyone including several Ferrari owners.

I used regular red and silver high heat engine paint for the parts but read the instructions properly.....

Plenum chambers must be cleaned and sanded properly, then each coat has to go in 10-15 minute intervals and then, once installed, wait a few days and use the car for several hours to complete the curing process.

A year later mine still looks great!

Thanks, I prefer it to the "before" version which was laughable...
