I agree, check the gas cap is tight. The warning will still need checking/clearing with an SD3 at the dealer however.

After driving for about 15 minutes, and once the light was on, I did feel the the car lost some power. When the car was automatically down shifting as it came to the stop light, the engine was jerking backward and roaring as it was up shifting. Once at home, I did check the gas cap which was tight. I wonder about the recall on 612s about a year ago? and if it has anything to do with this situation. The last maintenance was last year at 15,000 miles. The car still has warranty though. Will call the dealer today. I've owned Ferraris for more than 10 years, and never once has any problems. Perhaps I was lucky, but anyhow I started having second thought on this beautiful car. By the way, even before the warning light was flashing furiously, I only "felt" the joy of driving when it was on the last 2 gears (5 and 6), at the speed of above 50 which is a complete surprise to me. I still love the discrete power of the 456 automatic, whether it accelerates or decelerates. With 612s, the car lurches (and glitches) foward to synchronize with the geear changes (in both modes, auto and F1). I am longing for the day I "get used" to this 612. Strange, indeed.

10 minutes in, 10 minutes out. Software/evaporation issue, I was told. The dealer had arranged to have a gentleman, who has over 30 years experience with exotic and classiche cars, AMs, Lambos, Ferraris, to go with me for a real ride and explained to me in details on how F1, Manual, and Automatic transmission systems work in those cars. Most importantly, the comparision of 612s and 456s. I feel like a pro now and start to understand and feel comfortable with the prowess of 612. Another note, I also happened to see my 456 at the service shop, getting a make over for the showroom. It does look nice. I do think 456 is among the most beautiful cars. I may decide to keep the car.
