    Hi all,

I'm having a strange issue with my 360 in that it thinks the engine cover is open when it is not and as a result it will not select a gear.

I have tried master reset and filing the contacts (which were dirty) with a nail file to make sure the connection is good which it seems to be. It happened when I has driving but luckily it happened at the end of my journey and I managed to push it into an empty parking space when the fault occurred.

Before I get it recovered can anyone suggest anything or perhaps even an override?

Are you sure you're getting a good contact? I recently installed a Challenge grille and although I shut the hatch such that the metal plunger on the hatch made contact with the metal part on the rail, I still got a hatch open warning light. I had to make sure I shut it firmly. Try prying up the little metal part that is on the rail. The plunger has to make contact with it AND push it down so it makes the switch -- it's not just an electrical contact. It's a stupid design -- all they needed to do was to ensure an electrical contact and instead they added the small switch -- sort of like a belt and bracers approach.

Update - Genius - that worked - engine cover light now gone but just to pile on the misery battery now dead. Battery has always been a bit iffy - it started after a few turns this morning and me messing around with it trying to fix this issue sent it over the edge. Electrics still work but not enough juice to turn the engine over.

Have managed to free wheel it into a secure garage - will bring a trickle charger along in the morning and hopefully that will be it.

Any recommendations on replacement battery brand/model?

Just fyi, if you do get stuck again and you are in an intersection, don't ask how I know, you can pull back on the "up" or right paddle, hold, apply slight acceleration and you will jump the car into gear.

The plunger contact on the lid is for the third brake light, not the hatch open sensor (which is in the mechanism).
