I would like to have my engine covers repainted as they have faded on my 360 spider. Anyone know how hard they are to remove? I was quoted $1800 by a dealer to just remove them and reinstall with a new gasket. Are they really that hard to get off? I want to be clear; when I say engine covers I mean the red ones inside the engine that say ferrari on them. Thanks ( thank god spring looks like it's finally here in New England!)

Are you referring to the Air Intake Manifold Cover? Removal should be easy but I would replace all the gaskets before reinstall. I personally have not done this and would most likely mask and paint rather than removal - unless powder coating instead.

Anyway, check out Ricambi Page 17 to get the explode view. Should give you a good idea of what is involve.

Not that bad. Took me a day or so when I did mine for the first time. It's heavy and you're bent forward so getting if out is fun.. Get a set of flex heads for your 1/4' socket set and an extension shaft. It'll make it so much easier.
