    The light pops on and stays on after traveling over rough roads. Perhaps the engine hood needs adjustment or a new latch catch is needed. Troubleshooting will need to be be done at its next service.

    In the meantime, is it possible to defeat the ‘hood ajar’ dash light easily so that it’s not on most of the time?

    I resolved this issue by adjusting the bump stops for the hood on either side of the engine compartment. If they're a bit too high the hood will pop up a bit when going over bumps. Also the latches for the hood on the body can also be adjusted with a 10mm wrench. It is adjusted properly when if you try lifting the closed hood by hand and it doesn't move at all while latched. Hope this helps.

    This is very helpful, thank you. You described it well. I can lift it on one side (*clicks*) by hand. Is the bump stop adjustment pretty straightforward?

    Yes. There's a lock nut right under the bump stop. Once loosened that bump stop can be turned up or down. When properly adjusted that 'click' you hear/feel won't happen. It'll be a solid feel with no up or down movement of the hood.
