I just got new shock absorbers for the engine hood in a F355 because old ones were giving up on hood´s weight. But new ones don´t hold at all and they are brand new. Do I need to do something to them before installing?

    Thanks for your response.

    Yeah,

Take your receipt, and the shocks, back to the place you bought them and get your money back.

No, they are a simple slip or bolt on. You don't prep them. Sometimes they are bad.

I can tell you that Ferrari installs them upside down for aesthetic reasons. You'll always get as much life, and sometimes more, by having the black part down and the shiny metal rod up.

FDM - they were pulled wrong. Dimensionally identical to the 348/355 ones, but incorrect gassing for your hatch. We'll send new ones this week, as per my email message to you this morning. Throw them in the garbage can; I don't need them returned.

Don't you hate when that happens!

At least it's not a critical part.

And save your old, weak struts. With a padded extension on one end, you can use them to press down on the brake pedal for one person brake bleeding.

I just talked to Daniel (hadn´t checked email & Fchat yet) and informed me that they look exactly the same as another set, and sometimes shipping staff can easily confuse them.

Great service at Ricambi again, I had them replaced nqa.

Just for the record correct part number for hood strut on 345/355´s:

    62175300

the other ones (less weight capacity not suit for 348/355):

    63701800

Someone had suggested getting substitutes from autozone but gas pressure is to big a deal on 355´s. If too much presure, even when the hood is closed, it can look uneven against the rest of the body. So my recomendation on this kind of part is definitely stick to originals.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks
