Hello all, The engine mounts (part number 182142) on my 360 spider need changing. The cost of the parts is relatively low so I was wondering if this is a job that can be tackled by a DIY enthusiast (with access to a ramp) or if it is especially tricky/requires special tools/experience. I did a search but could only find someone estimating it is a 2-hour job but without any further details. Any help much appreciated (especially a link to the relevant service manual section!) Thanks!
You need a ramp and a transmission stand. The undertray is removed and you have to lift the engine enough to clear the mounts. Make sure you buy modified mounts there are two types. The later mounts also require the accompanying washer(has a longer spacer) and longer bolt. Should be around an hour per side plus remove/instal time for undertray. You would struggle to do this job without a ramp...
Hi Aldon. Not really, you would leave the gearbox attatched while you do the mount, otherwise the whole engine and 'box would move out of alignment, making it awkward to re-assemble...
Thanks for the replies. I think 360 spiders were only ever produced with the "new" version of the mounts (while 360 Modenas only after assembly number 34875) so I should already have the bolts of the correct length. So with access to a ramp and a transmission stand would you say this is a straightforward job? Are there any risks/potential screw-ups one should be aware of while attempting this? Thanks!
