Have a look at the oil filter thread in the tech section. It will help you understand the reason for the price of those filters. They may be expensive compared to Frams at Autozone, but in this case you really are getting more for your money.

I wouldn't worry about the cost of the oil filter, it is a very small price to pay n the overall maintenance.

Besides, you gotta pay to play...its all part of the Ferrari ownership.

Not something you should try to save money on. Like buying Walmart brand conventional oil. Wouldn't do it. Just like a car is not just a car, not all created equal. Get the real deal filter. Put a magnet on the filter, take a dab of white paint you have laying around and write the mileage on the filter when you change it. If the filter were not black a sharpie would work.

Check with Daniel at Ricambi. They offer a oil change kit that is reasonably priced.

Yes, that oil filter is what a guy needs. Yes, it is $50. I too cut all my oil filters open to inspect for metal bits and was amazed at the internals of this thing compared to the Fram products I use on my other cars.

Buy the filters from Ricambi. You get the drain plugs and washers with it. Best deal going.

As for "paying to play" I guess you have to go into this car with that expectation that maintenance will not be cheap compared to other cars. However, that does not mean you have you just take it in the wallet every time.

As an example, Ferrari O2 sensor are $180 a piece from Ferrari parts places. The exact same Bosch O2 sensor is available on Amazon for $19.99. I love finding stuff like that :)

You got me feeling all bad and guilty now :(
I am going to take of my pair of throttle position sensors that identical part numbers as ferraris own, they only cost me £20 each :(. Then i am going to spend £400 for an identical pair from ferrari ;). Siht, most of my electrical bosh parts i have bought at a fraction of the cost that ferrari charge, there coming of :(. OMG only last year i bought a brand new set of wheels from eurospares at half the cost of buying a set from ferrari!!!
Thanks for pricking my conscience ;) ............Oh god! My alternator
To be fair, i thought the OP was asking a legitimate question, one that many owners have asked over the years.

i believe Eurospares is out of the UK which would bring your total closer to the $50 mark. Go with Ricambi. Their oil change kit less than $60 shipped within the USA and comes with:
    1 x 197654 Oil Filter
1 x 10257060 Rear oil tank crush washer
    1 x 10275011 Oil sump (case) plug
    1 x 10261860 Oil sump crush washer
    1 x 10300771 Oil tank plug

Buy OEM, it's not a major part. Why do you want to put cheap parts on your car?

Maybe just buy from the ferrari dealer?
I buy my OEM oil filters and drain washers directly from the ferrari dealer (& those copper drain washers from the ferrari dealer are only .80 cents each.....nothing to get excited about).
    It costs me only $52.00.

I just checked. Unfortunately Eurospares has just gone up to around $50 now so Ricambi is a better choice with the Fchat discount.
