Never heard of it. In the sales section a dealer has a CS that shows the engine removed and states it had the “engine out”. I have had a CS and 2 360’s and it was never even presented this by a shop as an option.

This CS looks like a 95+ car and with low miles, so perhaps the shop was just doing it to get access to everything and detail the engine bay / motor to perfection.

Was looking for an education on a service that I was not aware of, also did not want to hijack the thread anymore then I did.

I responded in the add, Andrew. Yes, when it's more than a lock-n-swap, some shops prefer to remove the motor for better access. Trying to work leaning over the car in the engine bay is never fun :)

Motor and transmission mounts are a wear item. Clutches and flywheels are wear items as well. When it's time to do all of that, might as well get everything out to do the main seals too.

Unless you're refurbishing the entire car like G. Pepper then.. No. It should stay in. The more work you do, the greater the risk of introducing an error into the repair. Just fix what needs fixing and leave let enough alone IMHO.

OTOH, when I first got my 360 there was a shop locally that would take the engine out of the 360 "for belts". Didn't have to be done, but they did it. And when you objected to the repair, they didn't install things back until you did pay them. A mechanical extortion if you will.
Ex-shop owner that did this is now doing time for check fraud.

the only time i took the engine out is to replace fuel tanks. During which time i adjust cam timing and replaced all seals and stuff.
if you have the TY rap ties and be very details oriented and take lots of pics before engine removal. it is actually better than doing all those stuff with engine in situ.
i.e. less chance of screw things up.

I think some prefer to remove the engine. Not necessary unless ease of access for other parts warrants it IMO. I do also think that "engine out" service is a term that became synonymous with "major service" for Ferraris and some still use it flippantly, whether the engine was actually pulled or not. I ran into this a couple times when shopping.
