Sorry to bring up this.......again, I have a specific question.

I saw a thread a while ago shwoing a home made engine stand someone used when taking out their 355 motor while using a lift. I've been searching all over with every combination of "355" "engine out" "engine stand" etc.. and I'm coming up empty.

My father's 355 is due for the 5 year service (with only 4,000 miles since the last one.....) and I"m just trying to educate myself on this procdure as much as I can before taking the car in.

I do everything on my cars (except alignments) so going into a job like this blind, even if I'm not doing the work, makes me uncomfortable.

I'll try to post some pics of the car now that it's out of winter storage (well, going back in since it's snowing,,,,,AGAIN!!)

EDIT - new question. Once the engine is out, do these fit on a regular engine stand? If so, how do you attach?

Thanks for the response - I found that how to, I'm trying to find a specific picture (in all honesty, it's bugging me I cannot find it).

The photo showed this cool custom made stand used to hold the engine while the car hoist lifted the car off it.

I think that may have been jetfixer.....if not, hopefully he will post pics of the one he made. Heard it was pretty awesome and would prefer to go his route vs the Home Depot dolly as I need it for frequent use.

I do not feel so bad now, there is no way I would have found that thread searching for engine pictures :)

Now the question remains (might be in that thread, need to read it) what did that stand start its life as?

Here's one I made from 18mm external ply doubled up to make 36mm

760mm long, 600mm wide with the 75mm x 75mm x 5mm cut out to clear the oil pipe b nut flats (if not aligned with the sump or if you do not wish to remove the hose).

The wheels are 75mm with 170kg load.

Have moved this around the garage a few times with the engine and it seems plenty strong enough.
