Hi, considering buying a 488 but it has this plaque in the engine bay. My dealership said it had the leaking o-rights, for which they removed the engine and repaired it. Will this affect the value? Should I have any concerns? Has anyone seen a plaque like this? It’s a 2016 488 with 5k miles.

If it was correctly repaired I wouldn’t concern myself with it. And while I appreciate the pride in workmanship exemplified by the plaque, it looks tacky and should be removed.

The answer is yes, it should affect value. If its causing you to pause and wonder, it will also cause the next person to do the same. Also, you will be asked by anyone who looks at the car- cars and coffee, friends, etc- and youll be explaining what happened. The car may be mechanically sound but, I would want the price to reflect this. Otherwise, I would imagine there are plenty of 488s out there. Good luck on your search.

If it was an older car with lots of miles you would contact Paolo Valentine and satisfy yourself on the reason for the repair and the end result, then remove the plaque. But on a 488 with 5k miles that already needed an engine out repair you would steer clear and move on to another one.
