    Hey,

    Mondial t/348...

Before I go in riping everything apart, I wanted to get some pointers.

I just did a service to my car, doing oils etc. I also cleaned the whole engine, which was quite oily, with brake cleaner in a compressed air spray gun. Came out spanking clean.

I drove the car to Paris this weekend and did a great 1500 km (900mi) round trip without a hiccup as wekk as setting off all the speed cameras between Calais and Paris... 155 mph real (170 mph on the speedo) quite well.

After driving in some heavy rain (not at 155mph) I noticed a very slight squeal when idling. All the belts looked good (the cam belts done 2 years ago with new bearings - 6000 miles ago). I'm wondering if the cleaning took a lot of lubrication off the tensioner roller for the alternator belt. Or is this something to really worry about? The noise goes away if the engine is stopped and restarted, to then come back after 1-2 minutes...

    Marco

Marco, I had that happen to my 348 after I washed it using a power washer (matches your heavy rain condition). I started hearing a squeal which I thought was coming out of the belt because of the water getting into the engine bay. It did it for about 3 days, then just went away by itself.

Either some crap on the belts or they just need adjusting. ;);)
